Life in Taiwan: The beginning of an adventure

Apr 03, 2012 00:07

Holy shit it has been a long time since I've logged on and posted here. The reason I came back is because since leaving for Asia in January 2012, I have made little to no progress on the blog I had planned, and I want to keep a record of this amazing journey.

Fast forward since my last post: I went to Beijing for Summer 2008. Transferred to Michigan State University in Fall 2008. Broke up with my boyfriend mentioned in the previous post in Fall 2009 shortly after moving in with Alisha, Danielle and Ryan. Since then I had some crazy trips: boy drama, absolutely insane 2009-2010 semesters, insanely fun Utah road trip with Ian. It all led up to me taking a Software Engineering internship in San Francisco last Summer 2011. I lived at UC Berkeley and met some great friends: Tony, Ashley, Hayley, Art, Jessica, and the rest of the MSU/Berkeley gang. Then, after jumping through flaming hoops I was able to finish my B.S. in Economics while continuing to work in San Francisco for my last semester of university in Fall 2011. And this is basically where my story picks up....

On January 16th I left the US on a one way ticket to Taipei with a stopover for 3 days in Tokyo. Tokyo was everything I dreamed it would be- and then some. I absolutely loved it there, and I can't wait to return. I have been living in Taiwan for roughly 10 weeks now and I couldn't be happier. It's been one hell of a "staycation" and tomorrow I will embark on a 90 mile (one way) bike trip from Tainan to Kending. I can't wait to fill you in on all of the details.

I will also fill in the gaps since my last post as I have time.

Looking forward to sharing my experiences with you!
