(no subject)
Well now that summer's started I'm surprisingly very bored...maybe that's because I don't have my grades yet. But anyway since I was bored I decided to write a little something, ya know it's good for my health. This sorta concept has been floating around in my head for a while so I thought I might just talk about it here for my boredom post.
So I'm not trying to be conceited but I can fit in and blend with a lot of groups at my school and it's hard to talk with and keep all my friends but I have to admit that out of all my friends, the ones that are total anime nerds (like me except more open which I adore about them!), aka the social rejects who don't eat lunch where everyone else does, are the ones that I really love hanging out with the most. I don't know why but I feel like lots of teenagers, at least where I live, are really stuck up and really make sure not to talk and to totally ignore people who aren't in their social group. People also tend to ignore other people that USED to be in their social group. But anyway I feel like people who like anime are all just really extremely nice people! Of course there's always going to be exceptions but thinking about anime conventions and how everyone goes and dresses up, it just seems like nobody judges anybody else! I went to Fanime this year and there was a group of two people shouting in some corner. One of the guys was yelling to the rest of the people "SOMEBODY GLOMP HIM!" as he pointed to his friend. And sure enough two complete strangers rushed up at top speed and crashed into the guy, successfully glomping him. TOTAL STRANGERS! So it's things like these, like people in regular society would never randomly hug a stranger if his friend was shouting for someone to hug them, but with anime/manga people everyone's just so loving and happy that they don't care! I think it probably has something to do with the fact that we watch and read all these weird and cool stories about CRAZY characters that do all these weird things that we unconsciously act like them and are willing to do outgoing things that normal people would never be willing to do just because we know that no matter what we'll have a fun time doing it. And in most animes and mangas there's always a sort of subtle hint about equality and friendship and just everyone getting along. For example in popular shonen mangas like Naruto or Bleach, they're all about accepting people and reaching mutual understandings, and One Piece is all about nakama and usually in shonen mangas (or at least the ones I've read), the main character doesn't like to kill people...
But anyway, I just thought it was interesting. I feel like when all of "us" watch these wacky yet inspiring characters, even if we don't notice it, we tend to act and do crazy things to make any situation funny, and we try to accept people more because that's exactly what our favorite character from this anime/manga would do! And then of course when all of us come together at conventions the atmosphere is always super super positive and everyone has a great time. Seriously, when i was at convention I felt so welcomed and at home! NO ONE JUDGES YOU AT ANIME CONVENTIONS! You can wear whatever you want, talk about perverted things, stuff your face, or spazz out about the latest chapters of this manga and then all of a sudden you've attracted a new group of friends who's doing the same things!
So ya that's my spiel for the day. I don't know who reads this but I honestly didn't and am not going to proof read this, even once so if I offend anyone I'm very sorry. I'm just sorta ranting, and I hope it makes sense :)
