Character: Bartz Klauser
Series: Final Fantasy V
Character Age: 20
Canon: Remember the good old days? Back when Final Fantasy games were still about crystals - usually four of them? Almost always of the elements wind, water, fire, and earth? Final Fantasy V is the last game to closely follow that cookie cutter formula. The game tells the tale of a boy and his chocobo… along with a cross-dressing pirate, an all-too-sweet princess, and a boisterous old man with amnesia. Together, these four unlikely “Warriors of Light” embark on a quest to save the four Crystals… and the world itself!

The main hero of this tale is Bartz (or Butz, if you’re playing the Japanese version): a plucky adventurer who travels wherever the winds happen to take him. Hailing from a small town far off in the mountains, he’s always had a somewhat carefree attitude towards life. After his father’s death, he sets out to travel the world on his own, never really content to settle in any one place for long. Bartz is a guy that’s pretty much unsinkable. As far as he’s concerned, the silver lining is always there to be found, no matter how thin it may be. Sure, he tends to be kind of goofy a lot of the time. When the situation calls for it, however, he’ll quickly change his attitude.

Note: Boko is a chocobo, a type of large bird ridden for travel.

Sample Post:

Hey, Boko? Remember how I said awhile ago that I totally knew where we were ‘cause I never get lost? Well, er, I kind of lied. W-wait a sec! Don’t give me that look! I was pretty sure I knew where we were… a long time ago, okay? I mean, it’s not like we’re lost. We’re just… off track. It’s like my dad always used to say, there’s no such thing as getting lost! Just means you’re taking a little detour en route to your destination. Sure, this might be one of our biggest detours ever, but that just makes things more fun, doesn’t it? A brave traveler and his trusty partner fending for themselves in a fiendish swamp - zombies at every turn. Vicious lake monsters blocking their path. Their courage tested at every moment. Now that’s my kind of adventure!

Actually, this place isn’t really all that bad. The zombies kind of stink, but what sinister swamp in the middle of nowhere doesn’t have ‘em? And sure, the monster in that weird lake was pretty strong, which would’ve been a problem… if it could catch us. At the very least there’s moogles living here, too. If they’re here, this place can’t be all that evil… right? That moogle we ran into earlier was pretty helpful. Even if he was kind of bad with names. Where the heck did he get ‘Butz’ from…? I don’t really get the map he sold us, though… All that’s marked on here are ‘Kupo Nuts’ and ‘Super Slick Lubricant.’ That’s all fine and dandy for him, but how about an ‘exit’?

Aw, forget it. Since when did I ever use a map, anyway? Real adventurers make use of their instincts, not some silly piece of paper! Here’s the plan, Boko: this whole time we’ve been trying to find a way out of this swamp, right? That’s just what this place wants us to think! So instead of trying find our way out, let’s try finding our way further in. Even evil swamps or whatever can’t beat a plan as clever as that. I can just feel it, Boko! We’re on our way out of here. The wind is calling me!

…Why does even the wind sound like it’s calling me ‘Butz’ today?!
