Quick impressions of Eternal Poison and Tales of Symphonia: DotNW before I head to work:
Eternal Poison
- This art is frickin' gorgeous. HOLYCRAP.
- The art doesn't translate quite as well into CG, but the actual in-game graphics are fine. It reminds me a lot of Shadow Hearts, for some reason.
- The infamous load times are still intact, but they're not actually all that bad. I figure I can turn the animations off later after I've seen everything if I really get tired of the loading.
- Capturing monsters is cool... but sacrificing them afterwards is cooler. >:)
- I LOVE games that let you play the story through multiple viewpoints, a la Suikoden III, so this is already getting a thumbs up from me.
- Thage is badass. The end.
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World
- The animation is smooth, but there are some awkward pauses during dialogue.
- Oh, please, game... you're not fooling me. I know that Lloyd isn't actually evil. :P He's gotta have an evil doppleganger or something.
- Menus are shiny and laid out well. I approve.
- Emil really is quite the whiner... but I like seeing characters develop, so hopefully he'll be a badass in the end.
- Dahahaha, he fights like a total wimp in the first battle. I'm reminded of the childhood segment in Breath of Fire 2, when the main character flails his sword wildly at enemies.
Whoops, I've gotta run. More later! Maybe.
