Why so much hate?
There's currently a featured video on YouTube about speaking out against hate speech. Of course, the majority of the comments are unbelievably ignorant. Let me just pick out a few:

Humanity just makes me sad. I mean, really.
A lot of people bitched and said that if we attempt to combat hate speech, then we'd be ignoring the first amendment, and it'd all be a slippery slope to totalitarianism and widespread debauchery and hell on earth and so on. The point is not about restricting free speech, it's about basically not being a pigheaded, self-righteous bigoted asshole.
You can say whatever you want, but the next time you call someone a faggot or any other derogatory term, just ask yourself: "Is it really okay for me to say something so hateful to someone else?" Let your conscience be the judge. You can argue that words are words all you want, but at the end of the day, acting like a compassionate human being is the best thing you can do.
