NEVER, please, please NEVER buy ACER PC !!!!
I have repaired 3 Acer PC so far, so I can say it! They are all shit!
- they installed on their poor makina a bunch of useless apps (amateur users nvr know what they can and cannot remove)
- their own apps are mess, junk, shit
- their hardware nvr worked correctly
Look at what I have 3 recent days: I was asked to repair an Acer Aspire M1201 by a person who, put it simply, knows nothing in PC. But she tried hard, contacted everyone to solve her prb. No hope. Since last October.
- She called MS: they said "windows restore". Didnt work. Please contact Acer.
- She called Acer: they said "windows restore". Didnt work. Please contact MS.
So she asked me if I can do sth about it. Symptoms:
- it's slow, slow and slooooooooow
- cannot update windows whatever u do
- windows license non valid even it's a valid license
I've been working on it for 3 days.
- 1st, I hoped a manual update would help.
---> result: the update is already applied. weird
- 2nd, she decided to reinstall the windows completely from point zero. So I answered to her demand
* prb encountered: she has no proper recovery DVD
---> result: can't re-install windows from *stranger* source (Acer refuse doing so)
* prb: her makina doesnt have a recovery application either (WTF all these prebuilt useless applications could be of use there)
---> result: no matter how many Alt+F10 you did, it biiiiiiiiip'd and nothing happened
---> solution: I brought it home. And did some researches.
- 3rd, today. Fortunately, I could download eRecovery from Acer site.
Note: Google, you rock!
Note 2: I was worried that Acer didn't allow it to work =_= But luckily, it worked fine.
So I made immediately a proper Recovery DVD.
Reinstalled windows.
Everything was fine until: register your product.
- cannot access registration site using their own app
- GOOGLE ROCK! I go there manually using google
- create acc: Gateway time out
- try again: account already created. Thank goodness
- log in: server error, try again
- try again: same msg
WTF! Ignore it for now.
Really! I'm not a real veteran in IT. But as far as I'm concerned, I'm not really a newbie either. But look at all these troubles I got, I wonder how can an average ppl can work it out.

1,5hr: only to remove useless application. At last reduce the list from 58 to 14 =_=
Now doing windows update, it wont be finished until 2mr morning. So I gotta sleep now.
Keeer, it bothered me for 3 days. I couldnt concentrate in school at all.
ACER, you are the 1st one among computer producers who went bankrupted.
The next one... in my mind, ASUS worried me a little.
