[Hiking]: First hike of the year on Jan 1st

Jan 09, 2022 16:13

Hello again!

On January 1st we had absolutely beautiful weather and extremely warm on top of that (about 14°C).
Needless to stay that I had to use that opportunity to go hiking.

It wasn't a difficult hike and I only went up to around 1200 m. I think snow has melted until an altitude of around 1500 m.

I started my hike right next to an old castle.

What a great way to start into the new year, right?
It's private property, so you cannot enter, I think.

And up we go. ^__^

The way up mainly led through the forest. It wasn't a difficult hike up.

And the views were very rewarding.

Sometimes it was difficult to recognize the correct hiking trail, but luckily they had these signs on some trees.

And then I reached the goal of the day, the Schnappenkirche (1113 m).

And you get a stunning few onto Lake Chiemsee.

Quickly checked out the interior of the chapel.

Stunning views from up there!

Had my late lunch break there.
As you can see, I didn't go with my typical shoes as those aren't waterproof and I wasn't sure about any snow fields along the way.
Unfortunately, these shoes aren't a good fit for hiking. Although I can walk in them the entire day, when hiking up or down, my toes start hurting as there's too much rubbing.
I'm still looking for fitting hiking shoes. It's REALLY difficult with my feet....

I wasn't the only one up there, obviously, but at least I got to sit down. :)

Some more beautiful views on the way down.

Slowly getting back down.

And here's the first sunrise of the new year!

Later on there were absolutely stunning pink colors in the sky, but because I had to drive, I couldn't really take photos of it.

What a great way to start into the new year.

Thanks for reading.

Bye~chuu!
