I followed you on instagram! (_xamountofwords) I looked at Samsung phones when I broke mine but didn't end up committing to anything lol. I guess it would depend on what you want most feature wise. If the camera really matters to you, maybe go with whatever one works best in that regard? Are there any options to adjust the settings? I think my phone's camera defaulted to having HDR on which I didn't like. The Pixels got rid of headphone jacks awhile ago so I'm used to that lol. I have Bluetooth headphones anyway.
If you pay a premium price you can get phones with really great cameras. I'm just still hesitant to do so. Yes, instead of getting a new DSLR or system camera, I want my phone to do the job, because I stopped taking my DSLR with me on hikes .... just too bulky and heavy.
So, instead of spending 2000€ on such a camera, why not spend 1000+€ on a phone with great camera performance? Then again ... a phone only lasts like 3-5 years ... while a camera usually lasts much longer ... so it's not such an easy decision. :)
I've been pretty impressed with my Pixel's camera. The night mode is great. Yeah, I've had that struggle too. My DSLR isn't as big as some of the other ones (I have a Pentax) but sometimes I just don't feel like bringing it lol.
Yeah, that is the downside with phones. My current phone is a bit over two years old and it's the first one that hasn't been totally useless at the end of the two years lol. No, it's not. It's not even an easy decision for me to pick a new phone. :P
I have a Pentax as well!! :D Which Pixel do you have, the 5?
Ok, my Samsung phones all lasted longer than just 2 years, so that's at least re-assuring, but the only long-lasting phones seem to be the iphones.....
Yay! I'm actually on my second because I wanted an upgrade lol. I have the 3. I wasn't impressed with the specs on the 4/5s so I'm hoping the 6 comes out soon and is better.
That's good! They do seem to last long but the trade off with them is that I feel like the screens break easily? lol. I've never had to worry about that with my Android phones.
I heard mixed things about the Pixels, which is why it's not on my list currently, but I might come back if all the other phones aren't any good. ^^; Maybe I just keep the current phone after all but keep an eye on the market until something more fitting pops up.
Really? But it also depends, I managed to screw up the screen on my first Samsung, but that was a really harsh situation. It fell down while I was cycling and probably a car drove over it until I found it hours later with the screen scattered. However, the phone still worked fine, only the screen was broken. Awesome customer service in Japan, they just took that phone and gave me another one until they had repaired it and send it back to my home shop because I was travelling at that time. :)
Pixels up until 4 and I believe 5 as well were great. Somehow the 4 had worse specs than my 3 if I remember correctly. I think they corrected some of those issues in 5 but at this point I'll just wait until the 6 to see if I'm staying or jumping ship lol. That's an option to! That's what we're currently doing since our phones are paid off. I did break the back of my phone (my bathroom floor is so unforgiving. It's claimed two phones now lol.) but it still functions just fine so I'm not in any rush.
Oof, that is rough. I feel like I've had quite a few friends/coworkers with shattered iPhones. Meanwhile I dropped one of my phones face down four feet down onto solid concrete at a hockey game and it was completely fine lol. That is awesome customer service!
Yeah, definitely. the guy who picked it up was afraid to look and was shocked when I said it was fine lol. I always have. Mine broke the one time I had it off. :[ Steve never did until he shattered a screen a couple of years ago lol.

Are you using screen protection and cases for your phones?
