Actually I think we're much stricter than most other countries.
If you don't obey the rules, there are really high fines ..... but only if they catch you, obviously. And there are just way too many people and no way to control all of them all the time.
Like we're only allowed to meet with one other person, but if you do that inside, how is anybody going to check that? Unless it's a loud party where a neighbor calls the police nobody will find out. And people in the countryside just sit together in large groups because nobody will check there either.
We do have a curfew still in most regions, that's either to be checked, I suppose.
I mean .... I once witnessed something really rude in a train last year. They were controlling for train tickets and one man removed his mask quickly to unlock his phone as he got his ticket on there. He was scolded to badly for removing his mask for only a few seconds, but then there are these assholes who ON PURPOSE remove their masks for hours and nobody cares. Find the mistake. :( ... [/rant]
*cough* Those are actualy skinny jeans and I know they're not meant for hiking but on days where it's not hot, they're perfect for me. I do have proper hiking pants as well, but as I freeze easily I only take them out in summer (July / August). ^^;
I have very large feet and narrow ones. That means I cannot wear mens shoes, but hiking shoes for women are usually too small and in the size I actually need there are only very few models available. On top of that I have ankles that stick out too much, so pretty much all proper hiking boots hurt my ankles so badly. I have yet to find shoes that actually fit and I swear every single year for the past 5-6 years I've tried on all available shoes. It's sooo frustrating.
So yes, I'm also using trail running shoes (the ones in the photos). They have a good profile and thus far I made through the toughest hikes with them, so all is good, but yes I really need proper waterproof hiking boots at some point. :(
That's frustrating. I can understand that they cannot patrol everyone, but that's kind of garbage for that one person that was traveling.
I'm envious of you. I cannot hike in jeans very well, which is sad because I much prefer jeans to hiking pants. Hiking pants have a weird feel to them. I usually choose yoga pants because of this. Maybe I just need to invest in a better pair.
That does sound awful. I wish I had advice on the shoe front, but you're right. The styles are too similar when it comes to hiking. That's kind of why I prefer the comfort of trail running shoes. I wonder if you could find a waterproof trail running shoe...
Really? I somehow absolutely love hiking in skinny jeans, no idea why. Only when it starts raining and the jeans gets wet, those are the worst to wear. ;)
Exactly, but I really need some proper shoes that go above the ankle at some point .... Some day I'll get those ... even if it means I can only wear them for one hike at a time, taping my ankles and then resting for a while until the wounds heal up. T_T ........
I don't like how tight it feels when I'm trying to climb over rocks. It also can be too warm and makes my legs sweat and then the jeans feel gross. Maybe that's why. They get a little damp from my sweat. I haven't done it in so long that I don't remember all of the things I hate about it. This makes me want to attempt it again. LOL.
Have you tried wearing an ankle brace and maybe a wider shoe?
I totally understand that. :) It usually doesn't get that hot here in Germany and we do have a very day heat plus I'm not sweating a lot, so I guess that's why it works for me. In Japan where it's so freaking humid, I never wore skinny jeans. ;)
I've tried almost everything. I should go for leather shoes as they still can change their form while you're wearing them, but still ...... right now hiking boots are hard to come by as they have delivery delays thanks to Covid, same last year.... And right now you can't go shoe shopping anyways..... buying hiking shoes online isn't the best idea .... I would have to order and send back continously which is not good for the environment. :(
I wore jean shorts twice this weekend. Hiking in them isn't as bad as I thought it would have been. Granted, I know they're shorts, but for some reason I always thought they were less comfortable. This may make me forego the leggings and continue to wear skinny jeans on the colder months.
