[Vacation at home]: A few more nice daytrips and some hiking

Jul 18, 2020 16:01

Hello again

My vacation ended a week ago, but I still need to catch up with all the photos.

During my vacation of 2 weeks I managed to do 6 day trips. Not that much, but the weather was very moody the entire time and it looks like the entire summer is going to be like that this year.

I'm very happy to see that you all enjoy my photos so much. Thanks a lot for all the nice comments on my last few entries.
More photos can be enjoyed on my Instagram account.

I tried to avoid the weekends as it's really busy pretty much everywhere, but I did manage to find lesser known spots.
The trip pictured here was a rather spontaneous decision. The good thing is that nothing is too far away, so I just could sleep in, eat breakfast, check the weather forecast and then decide what I want to do.
Most tours are about 4-5h and in summer it doesn't get dark until 9:30 p.m., so plenty of time even if you start your tour later in the day.

On that day, my only proper shoes who started to get moldy because stupid me forgot that they were wet and I didn't let them dry ..... had to undergo some treatment, so I did that tour with sneakers. ^^; ....
It was okay, but you really felt every single stone, so I wouldn't recommend doing that on a regular basis.

The large black tower you see in the photo above offers great views in all directions, you can even see all the way to "Bodensee", one of the largest lakes nearby, bordering not only Germany, but also Austria and Switzerland.

This is the view you get from the tower.

Beautiful foxglove!

Found this wooden Buddha and was quite surprised. :)

Finally arrived at a small lake where people were already swimming. I just took my shoes off and cooled down my feet.

In many parts of Bavaria and Austria you often hike through fields with cows - without any fence.
Apparently, there seems to be a new trend on social media to scare cows and film their reaction. What a stupid thing to do.
In general, cows are calm and kind, but if there are calves or if you annoy them, they can attack you.

After all, they're much bigger and heavier than us, so we should be careful.
I grew up with cows, but I still am a bit afraid and try to keep my distance whenever possible.

Personally, that tour wasn't so good as it was way too much walking for only a few highlights and I could have done that in a better way.
I also really struggled on the last few kilometers as my feet hurt using only my sneakers for this tour. ^^;

My next tour was much better as I planned to do it for quite a while.
As it's a very popular tour, I only could do it during the week.

The trail up to the mountain starts with lots of waterfalls, something I always enjoy a lot!

After a really steep trail through the woods with nothing to see, I finally got out of the forest with this awesome view below me.

Finally reached the peak! There's also a cable car going up, but those are usually expensive and I always try to hike up whenever possible instead of using the lifts or cable car options.

Absolutely stunning view from up there.
Very hard to see on the photo but in the upper right corner you can see a lake and behind that lake is the famous "Newswanstone Castle".

There were different options for descending. I love having a different trail or a round trip rather than going down the exact same way I came up.

Crossing path with cows again. You can see the lake in the background again where the famous castles are located. You could see them with your bare eyes, but the smartphone camera is just not good enough to capture it. Should have brought my DSLR. ^^;

Back down I also checked out a castle / fortress ruin.

And sometimes I just decided to do some round trip trails around lakes for half a day.

This is the lake where I washed my shoes after the tour and forgot to let them dry, so they got moldy .......

The trail got more and more adventurous through the forest and this is where my shoes got really muddy.

While the previous lake is for bathing, the next lake pictured above is protected and there are a LOT of birds there, so it's great for bird watching.

On Monday, the first day back at work, I had home office, so I stayed at my father's house instead of going back to my depressing dark basement apartment.
As we have a new colleague in our room now, we're now 5 people in total and only 2 of us are allowed to be in the office at the same time, so I was informed that I also can't come to the office on Tuesday.
I decided to stay one more night at my father's house.

The good thing about that?
After work, I could choose from VARIOUS lakes and ponds only a few mins away by car to relax a bit.

This is something I really miss when I'm here in my basement apartment. All lakes are so, so far away that it's not a thing you could do after work. Besides, everybody else is also going to those few, sacred lakes after work and what would maybe take 50 mins by car then takes like 1,5-2h. Insane. :(

I loved the mirror effects at this little lake!

Thanks for reading.
Hope you enjoyed the photos again. :)

There's one more entry coming with photos from my vacation day trips. Stay tuned.

I hope you all enjoy your weekend.

Bye~chuu
