Hello!
So, I got around to watch the “Chihayafuru” live action.
There are two movies:
"Kami no ku" (上の句, upper phrase) and "Shimo no ku" (下の句, lower phrase) (*of course referring to the karuta poems)
As you know, I loved the anime and also the manga.
But like previously mentioned it’s a series where “sound” is very important, so I prefer the animated version.
I love the poems / songs so much. ^_^
Recently I don’t watch that many live actions or dramas, but I’m glad I picked up this one.
I was quite satisfied with the cast!
Chihaya and Nikuman were great picks!
Arata was pretty good as well.
Taichi was alright, although I fell so hard for him in the anime/manga that it would have been DIFFICULT (plus Mamo-chan..) no matter who they chose.
Kana-chan was a 100% match! Amazing!
The only one I wasn’t content with was Tsukue-san.
The live action was able to transport the spirit of the series very well.
Beautiful landscape pictures (also including Mt. Fuji), colorful hakama …. And above all you get to see karuta in real life.
Thus far I only watched a few matches at Omi Jingu or the queen matches, both on Youtube.
Btw. Omi Jingu in Shiga Prefecture was obviously also a main shooting location for this movie. ^__^
For me, the live action couldn't change my feelings, though.
I only ship ONE true couple - and that has never changed. ^-^;; ....
In fact, as the manga went on, they became even stronger ... especially because I started shipping Arata with Shinobu.
They're such a great match!
Nobody can ever be happy with Arata x Chihaya. That just is not right. ;P
But never mind me. ^^;
Last but not least, the theme song of the movies is Perfume's "Flash".
I fell in love with the song immediately.
You can listen to the song and also see scenes of the movies in this trailer / music video:

In short: If you like the anime / manga , then definitely also check out the live action!
I barely can't imagine anybody would NOT like "Chihayafuru". I'm so in love with this series, especially because it combines two of my favorite genres "shoujo" and "sports". ^____^;; ...
If you've already watched the movies, let me know what you think about them!
Looking forward to reading your comments.
Bye-chuu!~
