After finally posting the
grand camera comparison entry I have enough time to continue posting my actual travel entries.
We're still in Hiroshima. This will already be the last day. Well, officially I stayed one more day in Hiroshima, but spent the whole day on Miyajima, so that doesn't really count, I guess?
But don't worry, this is not the last Hiroshima entry as I had to split it into 2 parts (and you should get used to it, that'll happen with most other days as well ... took way too many photos
this time! Spring is evil I tell ya!!!) (°-°'') .....
Without further ado, let's start :D
Hiroshima Day 2 (part 1 -.-'') (April 2nd, 2010):
This photo was taken right in front of my hotel. As you can see it was NOT raining anymore! (*_*)v
Seemed to become a good day just because of that!
And that was pretty much right behind my hotel (LUCKY!❤): the
Memorial Cathedral for World PeaceThis church was erected in memory of the victims of the first atomic bomb, dropped on Hiroshima on 6 August 1945.
Hugo Lassalle, a German parish priest of Nobori-cho Church who barely survived the atomic bombing, dedicated himself to the reconstruction of the church. Supported by the Pope and the Catholic world, the church was reconstructed as the Memorial Cathedral for World Peace.
A lot of organisations and cities offered donations, most of them are German (!) (
see here).
It's nice when sightseeing spots are right in front of your hotel ;P
For the next destination I had to walk quite a bit and then take a tram. On my way I took this random photo.
Hiroshima's city life.
Finally arrived at my next destination: Fudoin (不動院)
This 14th century temple is another of the few structures in the area to have survived the atomic blast. The Main Hall is an impressive sight, and both the bell tower and the two-story gate are regarded as cultural treasures.
I love the different colors. On the photo before this one it looks like spring and here it looks ALMOST like fall! XD
Overexposed photo failure (>_>) ...
That was very ..... interesting. Just in case you can't see it clearly, those are baby figures.
I wonder what those stand for. Anybody knows?
Oh, Japan, I love thou and your colors! XD
A little bit scary. At least I was the only one there apart from an old Japanese man XD
No tourists at all :D
Next stop was already Hiroshima Castle (*__*)v
There's also a shrine on the castle ground!
Love the colors.
Sakura deluxe.
Finally reached the castle itself.
Unfortunately reconstructed for obvious reasons ...
When you stand in front of the castle, that's the nice view you get ❤
The castle inside had a museum on different floors. It was really interesting - not as boring as some other castles, but photos were not allowed.
As always the top floor offered an awesome view!↴
Back down, I keep flirting with the awesome sakura (*__*)
On my way (walking!!!!!!) to my next destination I took a photo of a streetcar.
Arrived at Shukkeien (縮景園) - a really nice Japanese garden!
A Japanese garden in spring means a lot of colors and awesomeness, hope you're ready for that!↴
And always the ugly skyscrapers in the way ;o; ... but that's Japan! XD
Doesn't that scream at you: Lie down and relax HERE!?! (*__*)
As always in spring in Japanese gardens there were some couples doing their wedding shootings there.
Of course that attracted a lot of stalkers (including me! XD)
Superzoom => unsharp
Still lovely photo. Have a close look at the groom! His eyes say: I love you! No?!
I like that picture ^-^ [/stalker mode]
I got them again! XD I love her kimono! Can I steal it? Can I?? (*_*)v
How about having lunch there? Looks like an awesome spot, no?
Nature meets skyscrapers XD
This photo you probably already know. I post it again because I really, really like it ^-^;
Byebye colorfullness!
Random encounter XD
I left the garden and went (walked again!) to Hiroshima station where I decided to have lunch in a restaurant that offered this great view :D
Yummie Chinese food (*_*)v
Rice with vegetables.
I figured I usually never take photos of my food when I'm finished XD I usually don't leave anything, so it's not really interesting, I guess XD
Cameras used:
Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 and
Pentax K-x The Pentax photos seem to be wider as their height is shorter.
Up next: I went all the way up to the Peace Pagoda and stopped by at various temples and shrines on my way.
Please look forward to "Hiroshima Day 2 - part 2" (^-^''')
