I would hurl words into this darkness and wait for an echo, and if an echo sounded, no matter how faintly, I would send other words to tell, to march, to fight, to create a sense of hunger for life that gnaws in us all.

We're only 4 days in, still plenty of time to catch up. Anyway, you're not THAT far behind. Words IS words. *nods* You keep plugging. I KNOW you can do it!! What time is it over there? Lets see if we can scrape another 500 words out of today? (before bed for me) lol

One of my all-time favorite encapsulations of what makes a writer write, that.
And of course you're welcome to know what I'm writing about. I've got a brief summary up at NaNo and an excerpt from one of my chapters, too, under the same username, SylvanWitch.
But basically, it's corrupt French Colonel and army of undead Abenakis v. New Hampshire stockade outpost circa 1755. I'm using real people in NH, from my dissertation, in fact, and have set it in the historical period about which I wrote my dissertation, and I'm using Abenakis because they're also in my dissertation. But the dead are raised by voodoo and can't make other zombies, and there's a lot of other stuff going on (foiling of characters, betrayal on both sides, romance, sex...). So, um, sort of a historical zombie novel with romance and, uh, stuff? LoL...
