OTC and Me! kayto1 September 17 2008, 19:06:28 UTC
You can't get much Over the Counter here - just the basics, like Ibuprofen, Aspirin, and Acetimenfen (Tylenol) - oh - Alieve too, but don't know the active ingredient.

Med Kits similarly don't contain much in the way of meds - you get gauze, bandages (including butterfly), wrap, tweezers, instant ice packs, tweezers, splint materials, antibacterial wipes and gels, burn creams, pain killers, anti-acids, heat blanket, electrolites, etc.

A lot of people beef up their own, and you can get the antibiotics (or what they say are antibiotics) in Mexico. There is also a huge problem with teenagers rifling medicine cabinets for pain killers (like codeine, etc) - so the Winchesters could stalk up that way as well! - In my cannon, they have built their own kit (I am not certain, but I doubt anything but a beefed up kit would have material to stitch up wounds) - one site you can check for "beefy" kits is NOR - National Outdoor Research - they do a lot of backcountry things, so their kits are a bit more complete.

Now, FIC ME! :)

Thanks for all the information, hun! I’m intrigued about this fic of yours with a beefy kit? First aid kits in fics usually are the result of whumpage? And whumpage = ♥ I want to read! *is lazy* Would you mind linking me up, or pointing me to fic? *shows you puppy dog eyes* please? =)

Now, FIC ME! :)

*salutes* I will!

p.s Its nearly time \o/ Heeeeeeeeeee!

First, let me point out that I am a terrible speller. And terrifically lazy - so although I have a dictionary sitting on my desk, it takes sooooo much effort to reach it. And then there is the opening. And the flipping of pages...gosh, I'm worn out ( ... )

Hey no probs, I can’t spell either \o/

I keep promising myself to at least write mini-fics....but then I occupy that valuable mini-fic writing time with things like sleep, work, and reading other fic.

Hun, I know this feeling all too well. lol

But I do love whumpage. Hmm...ok, maybe I can do a KIT FIC.

In fact, we could have a mini-kit-fit challenge...thinks about that....thinks it is an excellent idea.

And we should draft in the masters of whumpage - Kimonkey and Dragons!

OMG this is such a fantastic idea \o/ you made me squee even more! Yes of course we should so get those lovely ladies in and you and me can get ficcing. Speaking of writing. Are you doing Nano this year? *nudges you* I hope so.

Have a FANTASTIC evening (I am pretty sure I know what you have planned!)Aww, thanks, hun! Hope you have a good evening, too! I’m in the UK which means I am relying on DLs to watch it. Also, slight pain but it’s better than nothing ( ... )

I am not on chat - I am a techno neophyte and these modern fangled things defeat me. Seriously. Sad, yes. But I've accepted and moved on. I do, however, have a notifyer for when I get email, so that's something....baby steps.

The parameters I thought of are: setting up a deadline; maybe a time limit on how long you can write (like a flash fic); assigning people "KITS" randomly - having a super seekrit list of kits -from the box of band-aids to the Winchester Deluxe. Then sitting back and watching the carnage roooooollllllll in. Or slosh in, depending on the effectivity of the author's kit.

I'm game for it!

PS - yeah, Dragons has dragged me into Nano. I failed spectacularly last year BUT I wrote more during that failure than I ever had.
