Oh, this is just so, so lovely! I love your wise old Martha, travelling to the stars again, and all the Cybermen invasions, Zoe's clear voice, and the sweetness of the ending. Great work.

Thanks! I'm glad the ending doesn't seem a cop-out. I'd planned for it to be a little bit longer, but it never seemed to want to go right past that point and I concluded that's where it wanted to end.

This was lovely and I am seriously going to have to make time to watch "The Invasion" - maybe I will watch one part a day between now and next weekend, rather than keep putting it off to watch it all in one sitting !

You really should watch The Invasion! It's awesome and Zoe's adorable. And it's perfectly fine to watch it in two sittings. That's what I did.

I will watch the first couple of parts today - but not all of it as I must finish my current Eight/Martha fic !

Lovely! I've always loved the idea of Martha and Zoe, probably simply because I just love them both. But the old, wise Martha with the young, frightened Zoe -- just beautiful.

I love my old Martha. I've got a picture of her in my head and it doesn't look at all like the Torchwood one. More like an actual old woman and quite handsome, the way women that old can actually be. (The old people make-up Team Cardiff uses is very annoying to me.)

Yes, that makeup was awful, wasn't it? She looked like she fell in a vat of silly putty.

This is the most unique approach I have ever seen to getting Martha to intersect a Two-era character's life and story. It's so simple, but it's brilliant: It gives her an actual relationship to Zoe's world, and what a poignant one, at that. The potential in the dynamic you've set up between them here… I don't think it could ever get milked dry. Any chance of a sequel?

And that ending just kills me. Thank you.

It just made a lot of sense to me. I mean, the nice thing about Zoe is that she's situated at a point of time that it's plausible that she might run into one of the New Who companions without the use of time travel. She's a girl from the twenty-first century, after all, even if it's quite obvious she's from the latter half of it.

I might do a sequel. I'm not sure. If I do, it'll probably hop forward in time a bit and have Zoe and Martha on the TARDIS with Ten.

Ooh, Martha/Zoe. My heart was pounding the moment I read the pairing, but then I read the fic and the sheer awesomeness nearly killed me. Poor Zoe. So poignantly written. I maintain that her departure from the show - along with Jamie's, of course - is the worst. She didn't even have the memories to cheer her up after wards. At least she had Martha, though!

I know what you mean. It does not endear one to the Time Lords, not at all. Stupid wankers. And yes, Martha shall be good for her, I think.

[light bulb goes on over head]

So when the Doctor was going mind-to-mind against Goth in The Deadly Assassin... it'd be nice to speculate that two names were what kept him fighting. I think I shall add that to my personal fanon.
