In love with a stranger

This is a response to this entry on Terfaktab called 'In love with a stranger'.

I've had a few crushes on strangers before. Well, as wrong as it may sound, it's true.

I still remember my attachment stint in a law firm in the heart of KL. Everytime I got out of the office building, he always stood or sat on the curb by his motorcycle. As I left in my mom's car (I wasn't the one driving of course), he was still there. It took me a few days to actually smile at him. When the first time I smiled at him, he smiled back. It's not a sleazy smile but it's a kind of smile where men back in European countries back then who wore hats and lifted those hats as they smiled at someone. In short, it's a pleasure-to-meet-you smile. Subtle yet direct. That's basically our routine everyday. Sometimes, he even smiled first. We never talked. We basically acknowledged each others' presence. Seriously, not even a word spoken. Smile and face movements, that's how we communicate.

One day, I saw him at the same place as usual. We smiled at each other as usual. Then, I saw a woman around her 20s went to him. That guy gave her the helmet and she put it on. And then, she climbed on the motorcycle. His motorcycle. So, she turned out to be his wife (or sister, I try not to jump to conclusions but most probably she could be the guy's wife). Before they left, he raised his eyebrow at me as a sign of goodbye. Then, they rode together towards the sunset. Yeehaa! Just kidding!!! But seriously, they went home. I was like, he's married. Oh well.

The routine's still the same though despite what happened that day. So what? He's married. That doesn't mean we can't smile at each other, right? Well, on the last day of my attachment stint. He was there at the same place. Sitting on the curb while checking on his phone. I looked at his motorcycle trying to memorize the license plate. The attempt failed though. I forgot about it when I got into the car. Well, he looked busy on his phone and I was thinking whether to tell him that it was my last day. I didn't. As I left, I saw him still on his phone. That was the last time I saw him.

To tell you the truth, when it comes to guys especially strangers, I get freaked out easily at them. As in, they freaked me out especially sleazy guys who like to wolf-whistle and asked whether they could get to know me in the most annoying tone as possible. I was actually tempted to say, "Can I hit you with a stick or shoot you on the head?" However, with that guy, I didn't feel like that. He didn't bother me or approach me in a sleazy manner. We just smiled and acknowledge each others' presence, that's all. He didn't freak me out like any other guys. Basically, I was in peace.

Before I met that guy, there was another guy. But, it's in my mom's office. Please take note that my mom worked somewhere else but pretty close to the KL city. While I was waiting for my mom, I saw a guy, let's just called him Mystery Dude passed by. He's really cute. His head was shaved and he wore a shirt and slacks. He was walking towards the surau somewhere near the office. The last time I saw him, I actually called my friend who also works there to find out who is Mystery Dude. Alas, my friend couldn't find that Mystery Dude. It's like he vanished. Either that, or he didn't work there. Maybe he was there to negotiate some stuff or maybe he's in the other department or branch. Seriously, my friend couldn't find him. Oh well. We actually have a code name for him. Interesting.

Well, that's all. I wish both of them well. I'm not sure whether we get too see each other again though, but we'll never know. Life is full of surprises. Don't you think ;) ?
