I cannot believe I have not journaled in over two years! There's been so many amazing, stressful, surprising, and wonderful things that have happened but if you know me in real life or have kept up with facebook its not all a mystery (I realize those of you reading this from facebook are thinking "Duh"). I doubt many people read my livejournal anymore but I prefer the format of livejournal to Facebook's "Notes", hence the cross-posting.
What would compel me to write after so long? I'm getting married in less than 26 days (August 26) and I thought as a way to keep myself from feeling stressed I needed a way, not only to vent but a chance to look positively on the whole experience. I tend to be a bit OCD in my planning and sometimes it causes me undue stress and I'd rather think of these next 26 days leading up to the wedding as a chance to just breathe and relax.
So for the next 26 days I'm challenging myself to write at least one entry each day or 26 entries before my August 26th wedding. I might put some of these entries in my wedding scrapbook or just look back at them with fond memories. The wedding is just one day in the life of a marriage and it'll be over before I know it. I want to be able to remember the good times of the planning and laugh at the bad ones that really in the end won't make a bit of difference.
For my first entry I want to talk about Tux fitting and cake topper decorating:
Thankfully Josh only has a couple groomsmen (plus one groomswoman) but I never imagined fittings for tuxes would take a long time. My fitting didn't seem so long but I think most of the time taken up had to do with settling on paperwork more than the actual fitting. We chose the colors for the groomsmen (black tux with midnight blue vests and tie) and a fern/moss green vest tie for Josh (Midnight blue and moss green are our color themes for the wedding). I think they're going to look great. I'm happy that we're incorporating two of my favorite colors into the wedding theme. Out of convenience we went to Men's Warehouse to do the tux fittings and we got a great deal. The tuxes will be ready for pickup when we arrive in San Diego and that's just one less stress off my mind.
Today we also worked on decorations for our bride and groom cake toppers. Without giving it away lemme just say that it ain't your traditional bride and groom topper. I sewed a makeshift veil for the bride and Josh created a bowtie for the groom. Praise God for Michaels because they had all the crafts we needed to get the job done and under a budget!
Two things off the checklist and more for me to do. Including but not limited to:
Pre-marital counseling this Tuesday
Compiling a table list with guests
Finally deciding on centerpiece decorations
Finishing up our music selection for the reception
Getting a head start on more thank you cards from the Bridal Shower
I'm sure there's more but that's all I can think up for now. In addition to all this madness I am getting prepared for my first leading professional opera role and I couldn't be more excited! The performance is not till September but rehearsals start immediately after the wedding! No time for a real honeymoon but that's ok, that New Zealand trip has our name's written all over it in the future!
