Captain America!
I started this on my Kindle. I'm really tired, and it's very, very hard typing on an ereader, so I'm keeping it short.
Trailers:
1. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. Drag!RDJ in front of Cap. DAFKLDSDFASKDF
2. Real Steel, or Hugh Jackman uses Transformers like Battlebots.
3. The same Cowboys and Aliens trailer that was in front of Harry Potter. (Yawn.)
So let's get the non-fannish stuff out of the way: I liked this movie. It wasn't great - when I'm seeing yet another origin story and the pacing isn't good, I tend to drift - but there were so many good things about it: the actors, the visual aesthetic, the way-too-catchy music. (Chris Evans was a particular highlight for me, since he pulled off charmingly awkward so well.) So while I enjoyed Thor and X-Men more this year, I dug this one more than Iron Man 2.
Some fan stuff:
-I wore my Iron Man shirt to the movie. I was really into Captain America when the first Iron Man came out, and I ship Steve/Tony a ridiculous amount, so getting bookended RDJ was pure bliss.
-OMG ALL THE THOR TIE-INS. It's ridiculous how much I flailed when they name-dropped Odin and Yggdrasil. When Red Skull got sucked away, I half-wondered if he appeared in Asgard, and if Thor pummeled on him for a while. It seemed more like he was traveling than he was getting killed, I thought.
-New tinhat theory for the movieverse: Peggy is Tony Stark's mom. It makes Steve/Tony that much more fun/screwed-up! (Also, fondue. Heh.)
-rahnekat1 pointed out that Steve is very likely still a virgin when he wakes up modern day. Considering I took ~dancing~ to be a metaphor, and Steve didn't seem to see it that way? Yeah. I believe it. I am SO EXCITED for him to be around Tony Stark.
-HOLY SHIT THE AVENGERS TRAILER. LOKILOKILOKIIIIII. AND TONY CHECKING OUT THOR. AND COBIE SMULDERS. AND DID I MENTION LOKI AND HIS FACE AND HIS HAIR AND DFASDSFSADJKFLSDFLKJD
And now rahnekat1 are talking about all our Avengers ships, so I'm ending this here. (Black Widow/Pepper is probably my OTP, and Tony Stark is my fandom bicycle. *nod*)
