Atascadero High: Before the Pretenders, the Real Thing

Atascadero High School held its annual Mock Rock contest Saturday night at Cal Poly's Performing Arts Center in San Luis Obispo. The show, "Hit Me With Your Best Mock," had 13 performances, including live band gigs, six mock rock acts and swing and hip-hop dancing. The local bands -- made up mostly of Atascadero High students -- were Nothing Ever Stays and Double Drive. Judges included Ryan B. from the radio station Wild 106 and Atascadero Mayor Tom O'Malley. Above, Dana Rietdyk performs with Double Drive, getting the teenage crowd pumped up before the mock rockers take the stage.
