Right. So I just had to decide if I was keeping this place (or at least keeping this place as a paid member) and I decided to continue. Even though I haven't been around almost at all for the last couple of months I'd like to get back into the habit of posting and reading and chatting here. I miss all of you! *hugs* Though I have noticed that I managed to suck a few of you into the swirling vortex of doom which is tumblr. :) Even so it's still a better venue for sharing pretty pictures and cat videos than for talking.
- I'm making bread today for dinner and I do love the smell of yeast dough rising on my counter. Yum. It's just a basic sandwich dough since enriched doughs like that (with butter and milk) rise quickly and can be made in few hours. The perfect dough for times when I didn't get it together to make up the dough the night before.
- The farmer's market has begun again for the year! Anyone who has been around here for a while knows how much I LOVE the farmer's market. We did have a winter market (which ended up full of DRAMA - I heard all about it from my favorite vendors) but there is nothing like the vegetables you get once they can plant outside. I got white turnips (excellent roasted or in salads) along with their greens, spinach, lettuce, strawberries (yay! first of the season!), rhubarb (I wanted some sorbet), asparagus, and broccolini. Spring peas are coming soon! And fava beans. They are a lot of work for a little bit of food but SO GOOD.
- We got our first heat wave of the year over the weekend. Ridiculously early but now I know the air conditioning works. (I don't use it too much but over 80 in the house and humid and it goes ON.) To make it especially weird only the week before we were shivering and there was snow in western Mass.
- The cats, dog, and turtle are all well. Midnight especially would like to snuggle you all. Snuggliest cat I've ever had and now that his breath is better (salmon kibble did not agree with him - chicken is the one for him) I'm happy to give him many snuggles. Apollo wasn't getting enough brushies so he managed to get fur mats along his sides, something I didn't even know could happen with a short-haired cat. But his fur IS thick! We have managed to mostly brush them out but he still has a few small ones. Ginny is having a jumping issue since Zeph started leaving for most of the day. She's fine when it's just the two of us but whenever Zephyrus is home she likes to get between us and jump on me. *sigh* We're still figuring out how to deal with this.
