So, I'm watching the miniseries Emma from a few years back and my mom asks me, "Am I supposed to know any of these people?"

"Well, the old guy is Dumbledore, the blond is from Amazing Grace, not sure about the guy...OH, it's the guy that plays Sherlock on CBS."

"I KNEW it!"

lol

Heh. I know him from movies with Robert Carlyle. Did he make a good Knightley? I have trouble thinking of anyone but Jeremy Northam in the role.

He was actually!

Have you watched last night's episode yet?

You mean the most recent episode? No, not yet. I watch with Zeph and he hasn't been feeling well so to bed early for him the past few days.

Oh, I love Elementary. It's a lot of fun and incredibly enjoyable. I'm particularly in love with Lucy Lui's take on a female Watson. I mean could she be any more perfect? ^.^ Also I really love her fashion sense. She's got some great, practical, but cute outfits ♥

Lucy Lui is great! She is definitely half the reason I love the show. And Watson does have a wonderful wardrobe. Very New York with the dark colors and the flowing layers.

Like Emma you need to discard your walls and embrace the show! Or something like that...

Anyway, I'm enjoying it and would recommend it - I'm finding the characters very enjoyable and want to get to know them better.

actually i like this show very much. i like jonny lee miller and lucy liu. i like the interaction between them. and i watching 'elementary' with joy. but i still wish they not name them holmes & watson. (especially after absolutely wonderful 'sherlock')

I agree with this. It's not really that obvious, so just choosing similar names, tipping the hat so to say, would have made it easier to accept. Somehow this feels farther removed from Sherlock Holmes than House.

And watching the first few eps I thought that Lucy Liu would have made an excellent Sherlock and Miller an excellent Watson.

I do understand the mental friction of having two modern tv adaptions at the same time even if you enjoy them both! Sometimes I think that the characters in the Robert Downey Jr. movies shouldn't be called Holmes and Watson but it seems that Sherlock Holmes is a big enough concept to encompass many different interpretations. :) I do think it helps that the two tv shows are SO different from each other.

I am behind on Elementary (because Britain has only aired up to episode 6 last time I checked) but I am loving the hell out of it.

I expected to be fond of it, but I didn't expect to like it this much. Unexpectedly liking JLM as Holmes as well. Plus Watson is amazing.

We're not that much further along here - episode nine just aired this evening. It's actually rather interesting that you are getting them so quickly! Though I suppose the British tv audience might have a small interest in Sherlock Holmes adaptations...

Though I have liked JLM in other things I wasn't sure if he would work as Sherlock - but he does! A rather broken and scarred version to be sure but still Sherlock. And I completely agree about Watson. Her expressions are ♥.

I'm told the ratings were super high for the channel it's airing on, so yay elementary! It does seem to be well liked, which pleases me.

I don't actually recall seeing him in anything else but you know me like... not being into men. XD Whereas idk I don't fancy Sherlock or anything but there's something about him that I find way more attractive than I expected. And lol I would watch a whole episode of him just saying things and Watson reacting.

Good for them! And for you since they'll keep airing it.

I know him from a couple of Robert Carlyle movies. But you know me and Robert Carlyle. :)
