Round Up Post - xkcd, cooking, movies, doctor who

Today's xkcd is made of awesome! I love it! It must have taken him forever to draw it. But if you don't want to take forever to look at it all (or don't have forever), how about a scrollable, scalable version? Which is also excellent for picking up things you'd miss in the click and drag version.

I made a very excellent honey cake this past weekend - an apple honey bundt cake. I'll be posting the recipe and a picture as soon as I get a chance. I also want to post the recipes for an apple celery salad and a winter squash bread pudding, which was our dinner last night. (No pictures since we ate them before I thought to get my camera out.) Quite good and can easily be a vegetarian harvest meal.

Lately we've been eating in front the tv. Not our usual practice but our dining table is out of commission still so it's eat in the living room or eat separately. And this means we've been pulling out all our DVDs and picking movies to watch. We have had two rules: no Harry Potter (nothing against it but we have seen A LOT of it with Chicklet) and something appropriate for Chicklet. So, what do we have that is appropriate for Chicklets? Romantic comedies! *g* They have very little violence and we have a number of ones that are quite tame as well. So far we've seen The Princess Bride, While You Were Sleeping, Much Ado About Nothing, and Singin' in the Rain. We may be watching romantic comedies but I think most people can agree that at least we are picking GOOD ones. I'm thinking maybe White Christmas will be next. Chicklet had some trouble following Much Ado - the language can get in the way a bit - though she enjoyed it, but she really loved Singin' in the Rain and The Princess Bride.

Oh, one more thing! I have seen the latest episode of Doctor Who and I really enjoyed it! \o/ That makes two for three for the season so far and that is not a bad percentage in my opinion. It worked for me and got into some interesting ethical issues (while making it clear that Eleven is not so far from Ten as maybe he would like to be) and mirroring. I hope to write up some more about it but we'll see.
