Gosh, I kind of love Regina now. I wanted to but seeing the actress play a different sort of role sold me on it. I was genuinely worried about her and Daniel even though I know she marries the King. I also kind of think she kills her mother. Poor Regina. She should have watched Black Swan.

The little girl who portraedy young Snow was excellent. I don't know who casts these children but they're brilliant. Daniel didn't impress me but none of the men ever do. Smug New Guy is starting to irritate me.

Regina reminds me a bit of myself. Not in a great way but there it is. I have the capability for forgiveness but I have a long memory. Always had a good memory, I guess it's what you do with it.

That said, Regina needs to get over herself. Her mother didn't chain her up to marry the King. Why blame the child and not her mother? But I guess she just blamed everyone.

The sad thing is I wonder if Snow in fairytale land even knew why Regina hated her so much. But she should have known. When I was a young girl I could have figured it out. For that matter, so could Henry.

How gorgeous was the scene with Rumpel, the apple, and Regina's glorious study? All the colors matched from his tie to the apple to her jacket to the walls. Such a treat for the eyes.

And if I was a little girl, I'd go as young Snow next Halloween. I loved her dresses. Such gorgeous costuming, really.

I really enjoyed this. Skipped last week and don't feel I've missed a thing. Honestly, this ep could have come four eps ago and I really don't think it would have affected anything. Regina's hate has been bright and shiny a long time.

~I wonder if Snow in fairytale land even knew why Regina hated her so much.~

Same here. Part of me thinks no - given what she said about Regina poisoning the apple because she was "prettier", she probably still thinks it's about how the king acted towards Regina as we were shown in 'Poisonous Tree'. In her eyes, it might make sense that it was all about Regina's jealousy of Snow's mother and by extension Snow herself.

On the other hand, even though she appears to accept Regina's comfort at the beginning of 'Lonely Hunter', she's pretty quick to guess that the huntsman not only is intent on killing her, but was ordered to do so by the queen.

I'm thinking maybe we're going to get at least one more episode with young Regina, the one where her mother dies (and I agree it'll probably be by her own hand), and Snow might find out what happened with Daniel somewhere around then.

I always saw that line about being prettier as sarcasm and a nod to the original story not as something we should take seriously. Snow states straight out that she ruined Regina's life and in the letter she writes to Regina when Snow thinks she is going to die she says: I understand that you will never have love in your life because of me, so it’s only fitting that I’ll be denied that same joy as well. I'd say by the time of Leopold's death she knows exactly why Regina hates her.

Her story has become a tragedy. The show likes to go on about evil being made not born and here we see evil in the making.

I also kind of think she kills her mother.

Yes, definitely she kills her mother! That was foreshadowed in Heart of Darkness where Snow had also taken the first steps to evil and would have sealed her fate by killing the Queen and taking the Queen's evil into herself. At some point Regina must feel either hopeless enough or angry enough to kill her mother and all that evil and power goes into Regina.

The sad thing is I wonder if Snow in fairytale land even knew why Regina hated her so much. But she should have known.

I think we are supposed to see young Snow as EXTREMELY naive. However, later on she wasn't at all surprised when Regina tried to kill her (the Huntsman) and knew she ruined Regina's life. So I'd say she finds out at some point.

How gorgeous was the scene with Rumpel, the apple, and Regina's glorious study?

Completely gorgeous. And not just because Robert Carlyle was looking especially fine. *g*

This episode could definitely have come earlier in the season since the reveals were no mystery at this point. I did really love Hat Trick though! The Mad Hatter is an awesome character and I look forward to seeing him again.
