Top Five Doctor/Donna Moments
It's time for yet another Top Five list! This one is for johnsheppardluv who asked for my top Doctor/Donna moments. I tried to pick various sorts of moments between them: where they're awesome together, where she doesn't let him get away with pulling the time lord card, where they're just damn funny, and where he came damn close to jumping her right then and there. I probably could have done the whole list with the Doctor's sexy looks to Donna but I restrained myself.
1. Laughing at the Segways - Runaway Bride Let's face it: Segways are funny! Anyone that can't get the inherent ridiculousness of their 'chase' through the tunnels on them really doesn't belong with the Doctor. (Lance's inability to find humor is also one of our biggest clues to this point that Something Is Up With Him.) The Doctor and Donna had already achieved detente so we knew that she could accept him. Now we know that she could be a companion. Also, the two of them look like they are just having so much fun! Hee.
2. What Do You Need? - Partners in Crime The Doctor is freaking out, completely certain that he is out of luck and everyone on the pills is going to die. AHHHH! Donna, however, doesn't let it stand. She knows that if only he'll tell her what he needs to save them, maybe she can help. He goes on babbling all around the problem while she just keeps asking the important question until he finally answers. And, of course, she has exactly what he needs.
3. TARDIS, Time Lord, Yeah! Donna, Human, No! - The Fires of Pompeii This episode is packed with excellent Doctor/Donna moments. A favorite that didn't make the cut was the scene where they realize that the TARDIS is missing and she orders him not to tell her it's missing, so he doesn't. (This is the sort of scene that gives one thoughts of dom!Donna. *g*) The one that did make the cut is another time that Donna just doesn't let up. She absolutely refuses to just take the Doctor's word that there is nothing that the Doctor can do to save all these people. Come on, Doctor! Did you really think that playing the time lord card was going to get you any traction?? You're smarter than that!
4. Cheap Shots - Planet of the Ood The Doctor chastises her a bit here by mentioning that even on Earth in her time, there are slaves, but Donna lets him know that she's not to going to put up with any cheap shots. The look he has in this scene makes it clear that, not only is he willing to deal with her frequent challenges of him and his authority, he LIKES it. He probably annoys her sometimes just to get her to tell him off again.
5. Every Bit As Important As Time Lords - The Stolen Earth Of course, he doesn't have to always be the one to annoy her. She's happy to tell off anyone that tries to put her down or put her off. Don't even try to condescend to Donna Noble, she'll tell you exactly where to shove it. And all the while, the Doctor will be wearing a fond smile while wondering when exactly they can get back to the TARDIS for some alone time.
Honorable Mention - Ten II and Donna in the TARDIS - Journey's End This is quite definitely one of the funniest scenes ever on Who. One of the funniest scene on any show really. I could have capped the whole thing and every moment would have been just as awesome as the part I did cap. I really hope that David Tennant and Catherine Tate get a chance to work together again post-Who because they have such amazing chemistry together.
