BSG - Blood on the Scales

My review of BSG.

ZOMG!!! They killed the quorum! And Gaeta! And Zarek! I spent most of the episode with my mouth hanging open, wondering who they were going to kill next.

Zarak was one nasty piece of work. He wanted to win by any means possible. If it meant killing every single person who wasn't 100% behind him and he ended up with a few hundred survivors, that was fine by him. Perhaps preferable since that number of people would be much easier to control. He might have gotten along well with Cavil (who wanted to reduce the population as well to control it better) if they could have gotten over their Cylon-Human difference. If he *ever* believed in justice or cared about the survival of the fleet, he didn't anymore by this point. He also had no trouble with military dictatorship so long as he was the dictator. Apparently all this time he was talking a good game, trying to sway people to his side, but only interested in seizing power for himself. He knew that eventually his time would come and he would be ready to kill all in his path.

Gaeta had a good plan for the coup, not so much for the aftermath. Everyone just wanted the cylons gone but didn't think it through. What were they going to do next? He went through all of it to make Adama answer for all the crimes that Gaeta charged him with. He wanted Adama to say he was wrong; to apologize for everything that Gaeta had gone through. He wanted someone to pay for letting him down and not being who Gaeta thought he was. He wasn't ready when Baltar did it. He didn't know about Eight until recently (and that gave in the kickstart). Adama was the one to become the focus of his anger, perhaps because Adama had further to fall.

What is going to happen to the rest of the mutineers?? Who are they going to have to fly the vipers or the raptors with so many of the pilots involved? I can't imagine that it could all be swept under the run since I can't imagine that anyone on the other side would trust them with their lives after this. But how people would even be left to run the ship if they're all killed or imprisoned? Not that the ship is going to be around for much longer. It was already old and decrepit to begin with, now it is literally falling apart. Even with all the other 'oh shit' moments in the show, that was still a big one for me. Galactica is a character in the show, and one of my favorites at this point since they've killed off so many.

So Baltar fled to the basestar and then immediately had sex with a six? He's nothing if not predictable, is he? Personally, I was wondering if that Six was all there. She didn't seem all that bright. At least he did have a moment of self-realization. I know it'll be buried soon once he rationalizes, but he actually saw himself clearly for a moment. A moment that stretched long enough that he could give comfort to Gaeta and listen to his story. I doubt that there have been many who have stopped to listen in a long time. The scene was also good since it showed deliberation in the deaths of Gaeta and Zarek. Adama didn't storm the CIC, drag them down to an airlock, and shoot them. He allowed Gaeta, at least, some comfort and conversation. He was the leader, so there could be no forgiveness to him, but he was treated with as much respect as I could have hoped for.

Was that Kara's radio that Leoben gave Roslin? It makes sense since that radio could make it through anything. Interesting that Leoben offered it (assuming that is what is was). Is he over his freakout of before or just trying to be helpful even if the method of help gives him the heebies?

I loved the scene where Lee and Kara take out the marine guarding the cylons! Kara thinks that Lee's plan is nuts, but he didn't tell her the whole thing. *g* She would have thought it was even more nuts, but she might have approved. He rolled the grenade into the marines and then just about strolled up to shoot them while she was hiding behind a box. Go Lee! That was the end of the Lee and Kara hour though, since Sam got shot and she wouldn't leave him. She may not have loved him the way he wanted her to, but that was certainly not indifference. She was going to get him to surgery or die trying.

So is anyone going to still be alive by the end of the series? And will we survive all the OMG! moments for the final episodes?
