boylston is magic on a wet saturday night

I left the mall tonight and thought I had stepped into some alternate reality or gone through a time warp or something in that vein. There was this white 1940s Cadillac parked at the curb and there were tons of people on the sidewalks and most of them had umbrellas even though it wasn't raining that hard and they were all nicely dressed and it seemed like all the women were wearing skirts. And the buildings and the lampposts and the firestation all looked too perfect to be real and functional. And the car headlights and the stop lights and the street lights and store lights and the neon signs down the block all reflected in the wet street and made everything bright and blurred. I felt like I was in some old black and white movie, only I was seeing it in color. I took a picture when I got to Mass Ave., but at that point the surreal beauty that was outside of the Prudential Center had become pretty diluted.

I got a 50 cent raise. Maybe I'll use all my surplus money on some perfume from Sephora's. I hate that store, but I have this strange obsession with going in and testing out all of the perfumes. People here generally use fragrances more than the people in San Diego. At least that is what I have observed.

I have some hummus that I left out on the balcony today because I figured it would be colder outside than it would be in my room. I hope it survived. I also have an onion and a tomato. Can I somehow make a meal from these things?

OH! P.S. Today was Zombie Walk day or something. All these people dressed up as zombies and wandered around Boston and chased the Duck Tours.
