Title: 09 Things Chloe Hates About Bruce Wayne and One She Hates About Batman
Rating: Teen
Disclaimer: Characters aren't mine
Pairings: Chruce-ish
Summary: Title explains it all.

1. Bruce Wayne is a player. Every woman on Earth seems to know this, and yet, to her ever increasing chagrin, every woman dates him nonetheless. Except of course her and she wouldn’t date him, or touch him, or give any kind of look that is less than withering. She wouldn’t. She likes to call it dignity, though her cousin has another name for it.

2. Bruce Wayne is ugly. At least, this is what she chants in her head when he walks half drunk into a party still managing to look delectable, or so she heard. She wouldn’t know, she is typically interrogating the city’s elite and working, something Bruce has no respect for, whatsoever.

3. Bruce Wayne has no work ethic, or any ethics it seems. She has learned to skulk about the file room when Bruce swaggers around her colleagues on the busy floor of the Gazette. He looks for her with the asinine impression she wants an interview (which she never, ever requested, EVER) and no matter how many times she tells him “Chloe Sullivan does not write about gossip or frat-boy billionaires”, he just winks at her. He’ll show up twice a week, if she’s lucky. Everyday, when she’s not, which happens to be most of the time.

4. Bruce Wayne does not understand boundaries. Physical or emotional (even though she’s convinced he only has one emotion and it stems from his groin, not the little excuse for a heart beating in his stupid chest). The longer she lives in Gotham the more he seems to think he has the right to take her away from important, eye-opening stories, and sail her around the harbor. Showing her that even at it’s darkest; the city she’s come to love is beautiful.

5. Bruce Wayne drinks too much. After forcing his “friendship” upon her, he has also forced to her to allow him to crash at her apartment time and time again, or intervene when he gets that clever look in his eye just as he’s about to cause trouble at another hotel. She’s had to carry him to his penthouse so often that Vicki is asking questions, and Alfred is smiling.

6. Bruce Wayne is keeping a secret. Chloe has been in the secret keeping business long enough to smell one. While she resists the itch to dig, she can’t help noticing the sharp, intelligent gaze that crosses his face at lunch while talking about a story with her, or the Wayne Enterprises accountant who was given a big enough bonus, hush money some say, to retire luxuriously three times over. She senses and withdraws because there’s a part of her that’s too terrified to know.

7. Bruce Wayne is not Bruce Wayne. Sometimes, when a story has caught up to her, like the Joker’s goons did three nights ago, and Bruce yells at her, she has to bite her tongue and draw blood to not scream back at him. Two years she has known him now, and they no longer play the cat and mouse game, she considers him her friend, but sometimes he pushes her too far.

8. Bruce Wayne knows her secret. He knows her secret, and he’s yet to confess his.

9. Bruce Wayne loves her. She sees it the most clearly in his eyes when he’s pushing her away, or has a new woman on his arm. She feels it in all the moments he doesn’t want her to know, like when she healed him and caught glimpses of emotion in his weakened state. The force of it leaves her knees achy and her hands shake.

10. Chloe hates the Batman. She hates him because as long as he exists, she can never have the man he is. Even though she knows they are one in the same, Bruce Wayne:The Batman, without the consent of both she cannot love either.
