The gala and all that followed it had been a success, they had spent the past three days studying every angle of the case that they could, they had been so focused that the tension, make that sexual tension from earlier that night have been easily ignored

He hadn't expected her back so soon, so as he stood in the kitchen, shirtless and eating an apple, he raised his eyebrows at the sound of the elevator, and turned to see her stepping inside. "How'd it go?" he asked curiously, taking a bite of the fruit and looking at her intently.

Chloe looked over at him as soon as she stepped inside, paused then looked at him again, "I don't know yet, won't hear anything until tomorrow, did you hear anything?"

He shook his head a little. "Not so far," he admitted, meeting her eyes.

Nodding, she walked over to the couch and set her laptop bag and purse down, "didn't think you would so soon, I guess we have to wait."

He sighed softly. "Guess so," he agreed, taking another bite of the apple. He chewed and swallowed it. "Hungry?" He'd actually gone to the store and stocked up the fridge for a change rather than suggesting take-out.

Chloe shrugged a shoulder, raising her eyebrows, "I could eat, also, if that apple was in the fridge, you probably won't be feeling so great later"

He smirked at her. "I guessed that, so I took the liberty of throwing out everything that was in the fridge before I went shopping for new food," he informed her, opening the door and revealing the now-full container. He did the same with the freezer. "And the cabinets are full, too."

Her eyes widened a little as she looked inside, stepping closer then turning to look at him, "you bought... things that aren't in boxes? I hope you plan on cooking otherwise I have no idea what to do with that."

If she hadn't been so serious and wide-eyed with disbelief, Oliver probably would have chuckled. Instead, he shook his head a little. "There's still some boxed stuff that only requires microwaving," he assured her.

Chloe glanced at him and nodded a little, "thanks, you really didn't have to do this, you know?" She smiled a little. That probably meant he was going to be in town for a while longer, which Chloe was both happy about and not so sure if it was such a great idea to be around him all the time.

"Someone has to make sure you eat something more than cold cereal on occasion," he teased her with a grin, winking at her before taking another bite of his apple. He studied her intently as he chewed, wondering what she was thinking about.

Chloe rolled her eyes and shook her head, "thanks, dad. Actually, my dad is all about processed food too..."
