Phone call with reporters_lane

After her run in with Oliver Queen at the bar, Chloe picked up her cellphone, she had walked to work that day since she wanted to get a better look at what kind of restaurants and stores she had available in the area, so it would be nice to have her cousin to talk to during her two block walk back, besides, they were used to seeing each other at ( Read more... )

Lois almost ignored the phone, but when she heard her cousin's ring tone, she launched herself over her desk, grabbing the phone.

"You're not dead!," she cried out, answering with a smile. "I almost sent out the police for you, juts because I was worried, but I thought that might cramp your style. I want to know everything as fast as you can, starting NOW."

"Not my fault you don't pay attention to your texts," Chloe grinned as she looked before crossing a street, "anyway, the Gazette is great, people are friendly, which is weird considering Metropolis, my desk is two times the size it was there, I have only unpacked one single box so far, no sign of the resident vigilante yet even though I froze my ass sitting outside last night, just went to a bar trying to mingle with the locals and ended up with a date with the resident billionaire." Yep. That was all said in one breath and in a matter of seconds, "all in all, uneventful." She smirked.

There was a momentary pause while Lois tried to digest what her cousin had said.

"Wait, you got yourself a billionaire? Already? Dayum, Chloe, that's impressive." The smile grew into a grin as she pictured her cousin in a bar, doing the single thing. Normally, they went together, and since Chloe had moved away, Lois hadn't gone out once.

Which was fine, because she was stuck with a newbie reporter, and was going out of her mind.

"I'm assuming you're talking about Oliver Queen. Now, dish."

It was nice to be able to catch up, she had been wanting to call her cousin all day but between learning her way around the new paper and her co-workers, she hadn't had time for much.

"That's the one, I ran into him at the bar, we only exchanged first names and he invited me to have dinner, which will be on Wednesday at seven thirty at some seafood restaurant he suggested, which, by the way, you better have your webcam set up by then, because you need to help me choose an outfit."

Chloe took a deep breath, "how was your day?"

"So you can get both the billionaire and the coffee guy? My god, Chloe, we're getting greedy in our old age," Lois teased, debating whether or not she would give in to her cousin's demands. Finally she sighed. "Okay, if I hang up on you while I'm doing this, you can't get mad. We both know how technologically retarded I can be." Aiming the camera at his backside, she clicked and was a little surprised to see a twitch to his head. There was no way he could hear it from across the room....

Trying her best, she pushed a few buttons and held the phone back to her ear. "Okay. Sent. And whatever. Something exciting is going to happen here in Metropolis and Lois Lane is going to get that story. Your 'green arrow' -- which is so lame by the way -- will be peanuts compared to mine."

"Just keep in mind that your old age is older than my old age and therefore I can handle more than you can," Chloe teased right back, grinning when she heard her phone beep with the text message, "okay, I got it, let me look at it."

After analyzing the image for a second, Chloe pulled the phone back to her ear, "impressive, and so you said he seems shy and awkward? How long before you are walking all over the guy, Lo?" Of course she was distracted by her cousin's possible co-worker, but it didn't mean she was going to let her get away with insulting her reporting skills, "the only evidence anyone has that the guy exists are the Green Arrows found all over Metropolis, it's suiting, besides, I just might get his attention and get him to come talk to me."

Lois refused to comment on the age thing. Trust Chloe to bring it up. Constantly. Her cousin would need to be punched eventually. "I'm not planning on dealing with him enough to even bother setting a precedent. He's going to stay in his little newbie corner, and I'll be here, where I belong, on top of the heap." She heard someone yell ,"Whatever, Lois," and she flipped them the finger. If people were going to eavesdrop, then they had to deal with what she said.

"And that's exactly my point. Green Arrow. SO obvious. How are you goign to get his attention? Tie yourself to a railroad track?"

Chloe laughed at the background noise and shook her head, most of their co-workers put up with both of them, but every now and then, one or two would get fed up with them always getting the scoop and that was always fun to deal with because no one could ever win an argument once Chloe and Lois teamed up, "I can feel the love halfway across the country," she teased again.

"And anyway, the whole railroad track might be very 1920's but it's the basic idea, he's a vigilante, he should come protect a damsel in distress, right? And Lo? Sometimes obvious is what works, what would you want me to call him? The emerald wonder?"
