It wasn't so much that she was pacing as she was pointlessly walking from computer station to computer station, trying to research but not being able to focus long enough on anything that was in front of her

"It is about your safety." He moved toward her once again. "You don't know what he's going to do, and that's the problem. And no, I don't trust him. And I'm not going to let a member of this team walk into the unknown. That's not how we work!"

"If he stops trusting me, this plan would never work and this might be out best chance at stopping this war, Oliver. I can't risk anything." She relaxed just slightly when he referred to her as a member of the team. She didn't want this decision to ruin her relationship with Oliver, but she had to do what was right.

"Zod has no idea what Dinah, Vic or Bart look like. If they just happen to be casually around wherever you are in a public place, he's not going to suspect anything. We know the meaning of discreet, Chloe."

She stared at him for a long moment. At least he had a point, Zod didn't know the others, didn't even know they were a team. With a deep sigh, she nodded, "fine, as long as it's one of them."

He relaxed a little, nodding. "All right."

After watching him for a moment, she allowed herself to relax too, "I just don't want this to become an issue bigger than it needs to be," she told him quietly.

"And I don't want you to put yourself in danger anymore than absolutely necessary, Chloe." He shook his head a little. "I watched you die, remember?" His voice dropped. "And I don't want that to happen for real." There was a hint of vulnerability in his tone.

Chloe paused at that and looked down, the tone of his voice had taken her by surprise, "it's not going to happen." She took a deep breath and shook her head, "I just don't want things between us to be strained." She didn't want her relationship with Oliver to become what her relationship with Clark had.

The breath caught in his throat and he stepped closer to her, tucking his hand beneath her chin and gently lifting it up so she was looking at him. "I'm not going to let that happen."

Pursing her lips together, she kept her her eyes down for a moment longer then looked up at him, nodding slightly.

Oliver gazed at her intently. "Are we okay?" he whispered.

[chloeas]

"We are," she told him quietly, placing a hand on his arm and sighing softly, "do you understand why I'm doing this?"

"I do. I don't like it, but I get it," he said just as quietly. "I just need for you to be safe, Chloe."

Nodding, she relaxed a little, all she needed was for him to understand, "I'll be."

Oliver drew in a breath, relaxing a little, as well. He leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead, his hand cupping her cheek. "Good," he whispered.

Closing her eyes, she lifted her other hand to his side, holding on to him for a long moment then opening her eyes again and sighing quietly, "I should get to work," she told him quietly.
