I don’t know about anyone else, but November seems to have flown by. I’d like to blame that Nano, but when you spend time writing and thinking about the story in between everything else going on the days just fly by. Add to that the Thanksgiving holiday for us Americans and November can seem like a mad rush to reach goals. I’m terrible noticing time passing anyway and now it’s December and I still have plans to make for the coming year.
So my final word count for the month of November was 22,251 words, so I didn’t win. That’s nothing to sneeze at, it’s almost halfway to 50K, which is still a lot of words to fit into thirty days. The novel itself is at 54,214 words. I made a lot of progress on the novel, came up with some nifty ideas that work with the story. So it’s all good. Of course I’m with the school of thought that any words written are better than none and use the phrase “can’t edit a blank page” as a mantra.
Monday I wrote 1300 words and discovered some plot holes, but I have some ideas that might fix them. I have most of the story down, a landing place for the ending, some of the beginning and a bit of the middle in place. Also have some scenes that tie up loose ends. It’s so exciting to see the story coming together, especially since I can’t seem to write this chronologically. Tomorrow’s plan is to print out what have and see what I need and make notes on how to fix the problem scenes. A good use for creativity!
“Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep. ” -Scott Adams
Will be keeping that in mind while I work on finishing the story I started last year and figured out this year.
Probably should have put this here instead of
my wordpress blog . . . but whatever. Also using LJ icons to illustrate things on there is handy, when I don't have a sketch ready. Also looks like it's time to change the icons again.
