It's that time of year again . . .

Yes, nearly ten days after NaNoWriMo has started I mention it. <.<

This year's Nano project is a lot of fun. It's fanfiction based on a series of paranormal romance books I don't even like admitting I read. (Sometime I find them quite silly, but they make me laugh). They're more on the serious side of things (no matter how ridiculous the situation). Mine is a screwball comedy involving body switching and with some romance and mystery and paranormal thrown in. Various ideas (all ridiculous, I'm sure) have plagued my mind for a couple years so I finally worked up a possible plot this year and this is my attempt at exorcising the idea from my mind so I can free it up to work on stuff I can actually publish someday.

A friend helped me toy around with some of the plot stuff, but I didn't have setting done. (Not nearly as important as the plot <.< ). So when I started writing I placed the main characters in Charleston, SC, the week of Halloween hunting ghosts (well testing out a new scanning device). So then I decided to add in a haunted house, a zombie basketball player (or maybe it was Sasquatch . . . ). And now I'm debating how to fit the doctor in. ::grins:: I figure if I'm going to write bad fanfiction I should I write really bad fanfiction (why do things by halves?) and decided to throw in everything but the kitchen sink (might throw that in, too, bound to be a kitchen somewhere in the story). It's fascinating how some of the characters only had names and a goal or two scribbled out on paper, but came alive and into their own once I started writing.

Anyway, I'm having a blast with this and have really needed a fun project to do after this crappy year. (Hello, stress reliever). I'm way behind (not being able or unwilling to give up aspects of my life to write) and I don't care. I haven't decided if I'm going to share this one or not. Also time to change the icons, I think.

writing, nano
