Matt Bomer is awesome, and people still manage to say stupid stuff.

tailoredshirt has a really intelligent post about some of the crap that's been going around about Matt Bomer being 'too gay' to play in the 50 Shades of Gray movie, as well as homophobia in the movie industry in general.

It made me think of when Brokeback Mountain came out and Ian McKellen said, "It is very, very, very difficult for an American actor who wants a film career to be open about his sexuality. And even more difficult for a woman if she's lesbian." Well, yeah, because apparently Matt Bomer can't even be counted on to overcome his overwhelming gayness long enough to fake being attracted to a person of the opposite sex, even though it's my understanding that his job as an actor is to fake a lot of things he probably isn't feeling at the time.

(Personally, I'd rather the movie DIAF and Matt have nothing to do with it, but hey, if someone has to make money on it, I'd rather it be someone I like and is actually talented. I also don't find Matt Bomer to read gay on White Collar any more than Tim DeKay does...which is to say, they're adorable no matter who they're in love with. Why don't people get that?)
