Fic: Wes & Merlin

Well, conveniently, the internet has been squirrely this evening. So I finished up a ficlet.

A World Away

A/N: For emeraldteal - sorry they're not slashier, my dear.

Summary: Just another day in Camelot.

"Stop, stop, stop!" Merlin hissed, "Gaius is going to kill you! What'd you think you're doing?" Merlin quickly urged their new servant-in-training out of the way. "You can't mix those two things together, big, chain reaction- it's just not good." Merlin was still bustling away trying to set things right.

"And how do you know? Have you actually tried it? Because I certainly have and you will be glad to note that it truly does create a more powerful light source with less magical energy involved."

The man was a lunatic. Lun-a-tic. Not only did he have the most bizarre clothing, you couldn't understand a word he said. He insisted it was the same language, but- Hardly. And not to mention, arrogant much? Seemed to think he knew every reason why people were getting sick - and he wasn't even a physician! At all! Totally smug bastard. Even worse than Arthur. This Wesley character acted like he could see the future, he was that high and mighty!

But... Merlin did try not to berate him all the time... You could tell the fellow was lonely. Kind of like some deep, dark pang shooting through his gut every time you let him alone for ten minutes. Didn't think he'd ever seen anyone that lonely. Even Merlin had Gaius. And some moments he had Arthur and Gwen. Even the Lady Morgana, there were moments. Merlin certainly didn't feel like he'd been entirely abandoned by the world. Wesley though, he very much looked it.

So Merlin went a little easy on him. Most of the time. Hey, he'd never had someone he could foist all his chores off on before!
