I don't have a witty subject line, sorry.

Okay, this is a little off topic (whatever topic you or I were on, I don't know...) but I just realized I gave my first ever actual donation that wasn't like, change tossed in a bucket. I wrote a check to our local food bank type place, albeit a tiny one, but it was the first one. I've always kind of made a list in my head about what organizations (schools, programs, etc.) that I might donate to if I won the lottery or something, but I've never really, really given a donation. Like, my membership to the place where I take art classes is tax deductible (so in some way it qualifies as a donation since the place is a non-profit, I guess), I've done things like that or given clothing, but never just written a check. I keep meaning to donate a little on my electric bill--- But then I get scared off from doing that kind of thing because I know other places will find out and I'll get hounded for money that I don't have. (e.g. the local ballet calls me all the time for donations since I've bought a couple tickets. If they would stop calling and would let me donate like $5, then sure, I'd donate but they don't do it that way. Take a lesson from Obama's campaign, people.)

But anyway before I get any further off on my tangent, I don't know, it seemed like a bit of a milestone even if that sounds silly. It made me feel grown-up, I suppose, being in charge of my own money and not feeling that it was all promised away to college expenses or whatever.

Anyway. :) Go me. Or them, whichever.
