It *cannot* get more random than this.
So...a couple years ago now, I was talking to a high school friend I've kept in touch with over the years (we'll call her HSF #1) and she mention that another friend of ours (HSF #2) who was always drawing comic characters was (post-university) working at some comic company in Oregon around Portland. Okay, that's great, I'm like, good for her she's getting to do what she really wanted to do.
Fast forward to now, brilliant me, after finding out about the Angel comics and then Buffy comics and subsequently ordering them from TFAW, I'm like, 'Huh, TFAW is in Oregon. Portland area.' Doot de doo. La la la. ...Yeah. I think you see where this is going. Later I'm like, 'Huh, Dark Horse is in the Portland area. Neat.'
I go along my merry way thinking that there's no way HSF #2 *actually* works at Dark Horse, but I figure I'll check anyway. I'm looking, looking, looking through the staff listing in the back of Serenity #2, and am like, 'Damn, that sucks, she's not on here...' *looks one more time just in case* AND THERE SHE IS!!! She works in Editorial!!! HSF #2 works for Dark Horse! Someone I *know/knew* gets to touch the Buffy and Serenity comics before they even get printed! I wonder if she's met JOSS??!
Wacky, isn't it? And also, doesn't this just restore your faith in my brilliance? ...Oh, God, this means I *really* have to go to my high school reunion doesn't it?? Ha! :)
