Drabble-ganza 3 - #39 Sydney/Vaughn (Alias)
NOT FOR GRABBING
Sorry for any confusion. I wrote this...on Groundhog's Day. :) But anyway, I wrote it for one of the prompts and it just happens to be here in the order. The next drabble is already claimed, so you'll just have to chill. Sorry again if anyone got excited about getting a drabble. It was not to be.
This one...is for me, chlare. Heh. Seeing as how this fandom is a million years over, of course it's for me. I adore this show though. Great stuff. And actually, you don't have to know the fandom to read this.
G. The only thing I can warn for is angst. Sydney and Vaughn are very much a star-crossed couple, and they just inspire the angst. 140wds.
Overwhelmed
He turns away and all she sees is the black expanse of his back. Shoulders wide like a great void.
She doesn’t get to see his eyes grow glassy and wet. She doesn’t get to see the hand he drags over his face.
He doesn’t see her eyes do the same. He doesn’t see the way her lips tighten and try to keep everything in. The moment is pregnant before Vaughan goes on with the op briefing.
She wants him to turn around, Sydney wants to see more than the empty black of his suit. But he won’t let her. He can’t. She’s not his to show, his to trust, his to hold in his arms and weep. So he keeps his distance, puts that formality of the job between them. Business suit barrier. It keeps them safe.
And alone.
The next prompt is Mask.
