Drabble-ganza 2 - #45 George/Rube
For dancinbutterfly. Almost twice a drabble. Apologies for my lack of a Rube voice, but here's some Rube/George from Dead Like Me for

She honestly hadn’t thought about him that way before she watched him kiss Roxy’s temple one night. It was just comfort, but part of her yelled, “Hey, that’s my...my Rube!” He was the one that comforted her!
So she pushed him like she was five on the playground. George waited until Roxy left Der Waflehaus and attacked Rube before he could follow.
“Georgia, what’s all this?” Rube said casually as if he didn’t know, and straightening his clothes.
“I don’t know!” George answered in a huff, and truth was she did and she didn’t. The man was older than her father.
“C’mere, peanut.” Rube wrapped his arms around her and gave her one of those long looks like he was staring into her soul, just like always. The man had reaped her soul after all, it was only fair that he knew something about it.
“Rube...I-” George looked up at him, sighing and searching his face.
“I know,” he smiled and leaned down to kiss her so softly, one hand holding her cheek. And the only thing it made her feel was totally safe and relaxed. Not creepy, not weird, just perfectly natural.
