Chlara_Love Challenge #2: So Cliche!
Taking the piss out of stereotypes can be fun, and is a primary way that queer authors and artists empower themselves. They take those misconceptions/stereotypes and flip them on their head, draw out the faulty logic, or just show the stereotype to be wrong.
For this challenge, you're going to pick a stereotype and run with it. If you think your premise will cover a couple, then just clarify in your comment so that I can keep the list updated. These tend to overlap between lesbian and bisexual women, and often stem from the same bullshitery. Remember, we’re not trying to prove the stereotype, but to begin with it and deconstruct it with a good transformative work of fiction or art.
Prompts!
For Lez!Chlara:
- Lesbians all smoke.
- Lesbians all drive trucks. (thanks ex-housemate's mom!)
- Lesbians all wear flannel, preferably plaid flannel.
- Lesbians are all vegetarians.
- Lesbians all hate men.
- Lesbians all… want to BE men.
- Lesbians exist to be objects that men look at. If they kiss in public, it's FOR the on looking guys.
- Lesbians aren't really women.
- Lesbians are invisible/don't exist.
- Since there is no man involved, lesbians can't have sex
- Divorced from womanhood, lesbians can't have children/are bad mothers.
- Lesbian relationships have a "man" and a "woman" in the relationship.
- Lesbians become lesbians because:
- They are jealous/SWF their object of affection, and thus become psycho evil stalkers. (Ahem, Tina Greer!)
- They aren't attractive enough for men to be interested in them.
- They've had bad experiences with men/just got dumped by a man.
- Another evil lesbian corrupted them. (It's contagious!)
- Lesbians will always, always have angst, and an unhappy ending. Maybe even die. Because tragick and woah!
- All lesbians can be set straight again by a good, hot dicking.
And for Bi!Chlara:
- Bisexuals don't exist!
- It's just a stop on the way to gay town! i.e. They are confused and will eventually pick a side.
- Bisexuals are greedy for being attracted to more than one gender, and should pick a side.
- Bisexuals are sluts who can't be faithful.
- Bisexuals cheat, and cannot be trusted.
- Once a bisexual has settled down, they cease to be bisexual and are only attracted to the gender of the person they are with.
Rules
- All entries should celebrate the girllove of Chloe and Kara, if you need other pairings (and you might to deal with some of these prompts), they should be secondary, and should not end up undermining them at the conclusion. Ex.
"And so Kara held Chloe tightly in her arms, sighing up at night sky, and thinking that no matter how deeply in love she was with this wonderful woman, Jimmy Henry "The Infuriator" Olsen would always have her heart!" >:P! - No Chloe or Kara bashing (or gay bashing). If you so feel the need to bash other characters, get your hate on, but warn.
- Fics, vids, and graphics/art are all eligible.
- Claim your prompt/prompts here. There’s no end date for claiming, but I’d like for you to comment so that people who are like me and like to choose unclaimed prompts can tell quickly. These ideas overlap, so if you think you'll do more than one or discover as you flesh out your idea that you have some others, just comment here again.
- Post or link your fic to this community on April 27.
- For fic: Length: 500 words and up. No works in progress. Give us an ending.
- For vids and graphics: similarly, must be finished.
- Please include warnings for rape, abuse, incest, bashing, or death. Anything you think might trigger. Thanks.
- Include the following header at the top of your entry:
