A wonderful start to my Sunday.
I've been awake for 20 minutes and I'm already enraged.
I woke up (rather jarringly after only about four hours' sleep) at 6:25. I looked at my clock and realized that it was not yet 8:00, which immediately put me in a state of confusion as I was not supposed to be awake yet. My senses were still all blurry and not yet in direct communication with my brain. I tried to go back to sleep, and couldn't. Why? Realization: Next-door neighbors are blasting shitty circus rap (or something) that by this point had woken up everyone in my house.
Unsuccessfully, I try and get in contact with them (via phone), and with Minto security (also via phone.) Finally I give up, put on my shoes and step outside. Cold. Wet feet in snow because it's really fucking deep. Go to their front door, knock, no answer. Knock again, ring doorbell, no answer. Repeat. Give up. Go home.
I figured that while I was awake anyways I would check to see if my 10am to Toronto was still on schedule. Nope! Canceled! The icing on the cake was that when I called Air Canada to rebook, their auto-voice-demon-bot told me that their lines were too busy to put me on hold, and then requested I call back later before hanging up on me.
But hey, at least the music has stopped by now.
EDIT: I've made it to Toronto. I gave up on trying to call Air Canada and just went to the airport. On arrival I found a five hour line to rebook tickets amongst 300 people hanging out around cots that they have obviously slept in overnight. After an hour of waiting I said "fuck it" and went to the Porter Air booth - there was one person there including the clerk. I bought a ticket on Porter and left the airport at 2:30. Now I've gotta call up Air Canada and do some refund negotiating.
I've gotta say though - Porter is a nice fooking airline. Flying on the new Bombardier turboprop planes, with nice leather seats and all refreshments/snacks/onboard booze included. Strongly recommended.
