Conclusion
So.. just to let you guys know how the story ended, I sent an email to the higher-ups on my university and they told me that our whole winter break (minus that week that was vacation for the administrative staff) is liable to be used as recuperative classes if the damn strike DOES end. Ahem.
Long story short, I'm not going to NYC :(
It'll have to be rescheduled for December and I'll have to pay two fines to do so D: and fingers crossed that the plane tickets don't get more expensive otherwise I'll have to pay the difference as well.
Needless to say, that day I was... crushed. Now I'm handling it better and trying to see the bright side. It's still not so easy. I'll miss mom :(
Now onto happier news, dad will have dad's day & his birthday celebrated on sunday. We will ate like PIGS! Dad and I had thought we should celebrate his bday next weekend, since this one my uncle (his brother) wanted to make a barbeque and that means.. TONS of meat. So for once*, having cake? It's like too much :P but Grandma beat me to it and she made the cake already, so I guess it'll just be epic eating time!
(*) Once: We chileans have a different definition of "tea time". It'd be like brinner.
