He was talking to Kallen. The mask of Zero hid his fear, his sadness, his true self from her. Lelouch knew that she was in love with the mask, not him. Kallen, even though she was the ace pilot, was but a mere high school girl. Her head filled with some form of a romance fantasy.
She was thinking that after the rebellion, she would be the woman by his side. It was obvious to everyone by the way she tried to cling onto her leader. This crossed Lelouch’s mind once he saw C.C. Kallen allowed her reserve to drop when the witch’s light foot steps were heard. The ace pilot moved to touch Zero, but he moved away from her touch.
Sure, he would be happy in front of her after the incident at Kaname Island.
“Shying away from her touch?” C.C. teased. Lelouch swore there was a hint of jealousy. Or maybe, he was imagining it.
Lelouch scoffed. “I’m not one for celebrating at the moment.”
Kallen gave the witch a look. She wanted to be the one he would choose, but she had competition. Lelouch knew that. He’d really be happy if all went right.
