Yeah, just--I want to smack people who say "well, if everyone got birth control and sex ed that was worth a shit and there were better programs for free or cheap child care so the single moms can work and go to school and you still think women should be able to have abortions, you're stupid"

--because yeah, in these peoples' perfect little dream world women are never raped, girls old enough for their babymaking parts to be online are never molested, birth control is 100% effective, and a baby daddy, who might have been the primary breadwinner in the relationship, will never ditch his lady when he suddenly realizes a month into the pregnancy that OH CRAP HE DOESN'T WANT TO HELP RAISE BABBY HE HELPED FORM. Among other things.

Yeah, it would be great if abortion was never necessary. Unfortunately, as you said, that will never, ever happen. So instead of throwing out hypothetical and completely impossible hypothetical situations and going "well would you still be pro-choice then?" maybe pro-lifers could expend those valuable brain cycles--I don't know, maybe actually not being huge fucking hypocrites and shelling out some of their own money to feed, house, clothe, and care for an unplanned or unwanted baby and its mother?

Nah, that would require that they actually give a shit what happens to that fetus after it levels up to "baby." George Carlin said it way better than I can--"Pre-born, you're fine. Pre-school, you're fucked."

If life begins at conception, fine, but do not dare to tell me that fetus has rights you wouldn't afford to a gay person because of their fucking brain chemistry.

EXACTLY THIS. Hell, don't tell me that fetus has rights you wouldn't afford the woman who's going to have to carry it around for nine months.

I'm glad you agree. The gay rights thing gets me especially, and that Carlin quote is spot-on!
