I wonder how many of them voted for Obama?

The LA Times reports on the scene at the White House last night:

"In Washington, thousands gathered in front of the White House, shouting Obama's name and his campaign slogan of "Yes we can." Secret Service agents, normally tense at large gatherings, smiled and snapped photos on their cellphones."

Hee!

::EDIT::

An addendum: as of this afternoon, the No on Prop 8 people released the following statement:

"Roughly 400,000 votes separate yes from no on Prop 8 -- out of 10 million votes tallied.  Based on turnout estimates reported yesterday, we expect that there are more than 3 million and possibly as many as 4 million absentee and provisional ballots yet to be counted...It is clearly a very close election and we monitored the results all evening and this morning.  As of this point, the election is too close to call."

Trends thus far still point to the initiative passing, but there's still hope.  Also, there's this little bit of news:

"Gay-rights legal groups filed a petition Wednesday asking the Supreme Court to invalidate Proposition 8 on the grounds that voters did not have the authority to make such a dramatic change in state law without approval from the Legislature. The court refused to hear a similar petition in June, when gay-rights activists tried to knock the measure off the ballot."

So, essentially, we're down but not out.  Keep fighting, guys!
