For what I've been through today, I think I deserve my icon.

Surgery was today, and was quite successful!  A few items of note:

- Wasn't allowed to eat or drink anything, even water, past midnight last night.  As a result, my overwhelming thirstiness overshadowed any nervousness I might have had.

- You know what the weirdest thing ever is?  Having an I.V. in.  After they put the numbing stuff in it didn't hurt at all, but I couldn't quite get over the fact that THERE IS A NEEDLE.  IN MY HAND.  I had to stop looking at it, it was freaking me out that much.

- On the flip side, that little thingy that clips on to your fingertip to measure your pulse?  Coolest thing ever.  I got bored and tried to speed up and slow down my pulse at will, and consequently flipped out my mother.

- Anesthesia has always sort of freaked me out.  The idea of being knocked out with nothing more than gas is weird in general, but I've always had a real fear of anesthesia awareness (you know, where the anesthesia paralyzes you but leaves you conscious of everything that's happening).  Well, turns out that it's really not all that bad; my anesthesiologist was a really nice guy, and I was out before they asked me to count backwards from 100.

- Getting a ride from my bed to the car in a wheelchair was AWESOME.

So, yeah, it was a pretty eventful day.  On the downside, while the surgery is over, I'm still not terribly mobile.  Hell, I'm legally not allowed to drive for 24 hours since I was sedated.  So!  If people aren't doing anything this weekend, I'd be happy to have said people over.  Plus, we have Brawl now, which is pretty much the greatest game ever.
