Those eyes - semi-globular, innocent, almost childlike; they spoke a language that Hyukjae can’t seem to fathom. It’s like they stare straight into his soul.
Hyukjae finally manages to swallow the clog in his throat. He doesn’t know why. But one thing’s for sure.
He doesn’t like them.
---
He feels a buzz in his pocket that snaps him out of his reverie. Finally he’s able to tear his eyes away from the other and takes out his phone and sees the name that flashes on his mobile phone screen. “You have received a message from ‘Minnie Bunny’.” He opens the message.
“Yah where on mother fucking earth are you? The prof is going about students being late for school and how, if unattended, this habit is gonna extrapolate into the future and have an indirect impact on our chances of getting decent jobs from our potential employers and it’s all your fault. So get your sorry ass here this instant!!”
Hyukjae flinched, because from experience, a provoked bunny was not a very nice scene to watch. He slipped the phone back into his pocket and was about to start a dash again when he was stopped dead in his tracks.
“Uhm . . . excuse me?”
Hyukjae stopped and turned around to face the other.
“How do I get to ? I’m kinda lost here.”
Oh gosh even his voice is sexy and what are you thinking about Hyukjae?!
“Oh just go down this really steep hill that has caused untimely deaths . . . to my bicycle, then my scooter, and at other times my legs when I ran down too fast. Then you take this really sharp turn to the left without a mirror to warn you about oncoming traffic in which I almost got rammed into by a lorry driven by a really mean grumpy ahjusshi. Keep walking after your legs die and after getting rammed by a lorry driven by a really mean ahjusshi and you’ll see a really huge white building with the school flag pole sitting on top like a sorry duck. As you walk closer, you’ll notice the gatekeeper who’s equally evil like the mean grumpy ahjusshi who drove the lorry which rammed into you just that he’s bald and has this really huge mole- ” That was what Hyukjae thought in his mind but of course he wouldn’t dare to make a fool of himself in front of the other.
“Uhm . . .”
Hyukjae looks up and sees the brunette staring straight into his eyes. He takes a while to finally realize that he had been thinking so hard that he crouched down and crinkled his forehead, frowning so hard that his eyebrows literally got glued together. He notices that an awkward silence had taken up residence between them and jolts up, almost banging head to head with the brunette.
“Oh,” he clears his throat, “just go straight down this hill and turn left. You’ll eventually see it.”
The brunette looks at the direction Hyukjae pointed to and flashes him a smile. Hyukjae’s eyes mentally widened and he mentally clutched his heart, breathing clearly becoming an issue.
Hyukjae sees a bunch of papers in his hand and catches a glimpse of his school’s logo on one of them. Wonder who this guy is? Transfer student? He’s tempted to ask but is interrupted when he feels another vibration in his pocket.
“I’ve already elbowed Shindong because he asked a stupid question. Unless you still want your ribs to be in place, you better start showing yourself soon.”
Hyukjae shuddered. He still wanted to live.
“So, why are you going there for?” was what he had wanted to ask the brunette but when he looked up, he was nowhere to be seen.
“T-that was fast.”
---
“So . . .”
“So?”
“Lemme guess, you were late because you helped an old lady cross the road.”
“Wrong. This time, I helped someone look for directions.”
“Ah~ a newly invented excuse.”
“Well, this isn’t entirely false.”
Sungmin leaned closer and whispered into Hyukjae’s ear, eyes big and gleaming, with a sneaky smile creeping up his face. “Tell me more.”
“Aish Min, it’s nothing. Just some random lost guy.” Though he had those gorgeous looks and hypnotizing eyes.
Sungmin eyed him warily, twitching his lips a little, so Hyukjae quickly changed the topic before letting him get a chance to dig his nails further.
“So, how was homeroom?”
Shindong shot up from his sleeping position, an eye half-closed and with a trail of drool on his chin. Hyukjae eyes the dark patch on his sleeve and scrunched up his face in disgust.
“It was torture. The horror, torment, terror! I swear I lost half my soul within those 15 minutes.”
Sungmin got up and smacked his head using a book.
“The world was a more peaceful place when you didn’t talk. But really Hyuk, listening to the professor speak was like hearing water dripping from the tap.”
“Uh . . .huh.”
“Even observing the sun’s reflection on his geeky glasses was way more interesting.”
Sungmin made a gesture implying that he would get another head-smack if he talked more so Shindong became silent after that.
“Anyway, my condolences to both your ears.”
“Ah by the way Hyuk, I think I did hear something about a new transfer student or something.”
Hyukjae looked up from his book in interest. “Oh really? Anything else?”
“I was basically watching Kyu owning some dude on Starcraft so I might’ve missed it. But if my ears were still functioning well after the horrendous homeroom, I think I heard the student would be coming in a few days’ time.”
Hyukjae leaned back on his chair and folded his arms, brushing his chin slowly as if deep in thought.
“Transfer student huh?”

A/N: As I’ve claimed, I’ve been certified as a crazy person in uni right now. So failed chapter is fail. And short chapter is short. Nevertheless, hope the story progressed...even by a bit.
