Assuming i pass all my exams, I'm going to college next year!! Yay can't wait! ^-^
Around this time every year, colleges and universities around Ireland hold open days where students can look around the college, attend talks and lectures and decide if they want to go to there next year. So today and tomorrow is the NUIG (National University of Ireland, Galway) open day and me and my friends went along. Personally i don't want to go there, i'm all set on going to DCU (Dublin City University) to study Japanese but my friend Anita is all set on doing this Creative Writing coarse there so i went along with her. Plus it was a day off school! ^_^
The day started with me sleeping through my alarm and my mam screaming at me to get up because i was going to miss the bus. I nearly did but luckily Oryana told them to wait 5 minutes and i got a seat! Yay thanks Naya!! ^-^ It was €23 for a return student ticket to Galway!! What a rip-off!
Anyway, I was sitting beside Sinead on the way up and i must have looked hysterical to anyone who saw me because she asked if she could hear an Arashi song! It was bound to happen eventually because i had been talking about them for months non-stop so she got curious! I played her the music video of "Truth" on my ipod and she LIKED IT!!! I was so freakily happy and i totally ended up playing a lot of their songs and videos! Keep in mind it was 3 1/2 hours journey! :) So yeah i totally converted her and ended up telling her the history of Arashi! It was brilliant because i had just finished converting my other friend Anita so it was about time i got a new convertee!! ^_^
Anyway i'm not gonna let myself get off track!
It was all going fine until the bus in a park to let us stretch our legs. We were just waiting outside the bus when the bus driver came out and asked us what street we were on! I mean, isn't he supposed to know that? We got back on the bus and we realised that he totally didn't know where he was going! He didn't take the main road and instead took all these little bumpy backroads and turned around twice! It was so stupid! We were getting a bit worried but luckily we made it there eventually so it was all good!
First we got something to eat because we were starving and then after we managed to find our way to NUIG. We got a bit lost but found it eventually.
Here's a picture of one of the buildings at the university:
None of us were really interested in anything other than Anita's course so we just headed straight for the Arts building. We found the lecture she wanted to go to but missed the 1 o'clock talk. We found this bookstore and hung out there for a while until the next lecture at 2. And i was so happy because i bought "The Complete Works Of Jane Austen" for only €17! It has all of her 7 great novels in it but the writing is tiny! It'll probably take me ages to finish it all! But oh well, i love reading! I'm such a nerd! :P
We eventually made our way into the talk, which was actually really interesting and Anita was very happy because she's 100% sure she wants that course now!
We went back to Eyre Square and got something to eat (i ate so much ice cream!) and then went to get the bus home. This is where the real story happened:
First off, there were no seats on the bus so we had to get off and wait 15 minutes for the second one. When we got on that, it was really full too so i had to sit beside this creepy old guy who kept talking to me about the the weather and the Lisbon Treaty and stuff. (Speaking of the LT, Ireland had the second referendum today, so i wonder how that goes! We'll find out tomorrow.) But he got off after about an hour and i sat beside Sinead again! :)
But, the most unbelievable thing happened! The bus stopped in this village where there was a funeral and the bus driver GOT OUT OF THE BUS AND WENT INTO THE FUNERAL TO PAY HIS RESPECTS! We actually couldn't believe it! He just left us for about 10 minutes parked on the side of the road! What the heck? Who does that?! It's so unprofessional.
Anyway he came back and we continued on our way home but about a half an hour later, we stopped again and had to swap buses because ours was overheating! Something happened to the other bus too but i'm not really sure what (i think it was something to do with their engine) because they had to swap buses too! So we all had to get into this other bus but luckily there had been a few stops before that so there wasn't that many people left.
From then on it was fine, the new bus was really comfortable and it was fun but i did feel a bit travel sick (that happens to me sometimes on buses and cars). We were about 40 minutes late coming back home and Oryana was late for work!!
It was seriously ridiculous! That's never happened to me before and i seriously doubt it will happen again! I suppose it is a funny story to tell! I've been going on about it all day to everyone!
Yeah so anyway that was my fun but extremely weird day in Galway! I'll post after i go to the DCU one too! Kyaaa o can't wait for that!! :-)
