Hope Springs Eternal chapter 3 (WIP)

Title: Hope Springs Eternal
Genre(s): Mystery, Supernatual
Original Insparation: "Tuck Everlasting" by Natalie Babbitt
Notes: I wasn't going to post this chapter until it was finished, but I started it over six months ago (when I wrote the first couple of paragraphs) and haven't touched it since. So, I decided to post what I have and update it later.

For too long his years had blurred together. Seasons should have created enough of a change to help him sense their passing, but after a while they were as normal and routine as heartbeats. He knew they were there, but unless he consciously paid attention, they went practically unnoticed.

Eldon knew that his time spent with Hope and Henry would be different from what he had grown accustomed to. But he had no idea how fundamentally it would change his view of life. The word "life" meant nothing to him on a personal level. Life was something that others experienced. A spice that had long since grown mild to him.

This taste of life was new, yet familiar. At first, Hope reminded him of his own little sister of so long ago. She was different than most other humans. She had and unconventional approach at life, and obviously some talent in magic.

[Next I plan on writing a scene where Hope brings Eldon back to her place of residence. She shows him around, including all of her little improvements. Her personality soon reveals, however, that she is not as much like Ida as Eldon had first thought.]
