[Ken flicks on the video, and there's an egg sitting on a pillow, shaking a bit. There's a small crack in the top, and as the video continues, it shakes harder.]

I think it's about to hatch!

[Indeed, there's a loud crack, and the brown tip of an ear peeks through, and then there's another crack as the egg shatters completely and an Eevee lies ( Read more... )

Of course they do. How else would they reproduce?

... I don't know how pokemon work. They don't exist in my world.

[What if they reproduced asexually? 8| ]

They're similar to your cats and dogs, but they're not exactly the same.

[Binary Eevee fission.]

[Come on it would be totally awesome.]

Oh. Well that's good to know.

[It's so tiny and cute...]

[suddenly you have two eevees standing next to you when you only had one before...]

For the record? Pokemon probably will not eat the pet food sold in the grocery stores here. There are Trainer's Guides and other helpful information in the Welcome Center, according to Red, if you didn't already know that.

[Awesome. But he nods in response.]

I got one of the Trainer Kits, and N told me what they eat. He told me to start it on warm milk first.

... Does everyone battle with pokemon in your world?

Most people do, yes. It's a good way to exercise your Pokemon, as well as build trust with it.

I should probably wait until she grows a little to start battling though, right?

You can start battling right away, actually. Pokemon aren't helpless when they first hatch, you know. Besides, you'll have plenty of people to train against that have similar-leveled Pokemon.

Really? Huh. That seems...

[Well, he shouldn't say 'weird' because it's a different world, but...]

Maybe just a little until she... he? Gets strong enough to fight back well.

Your Eevee might've just hatched, but again, they're different from your sort of animals. You can wait a bit if you want, but remember that Pokemon do need exercise, and training is a good way to do that and build trust with it.
