Personality: Laron can be summed up in one word. Chivalrous. He lives by his code of chivalry, and falls back to it most the time. If a situation comes up where he had to act in an un-chivalrous way he regrets it immensely. This code also made him decide to 'help' the world by feeding only on undesirables. The bullies and dregs of society are his predominant food source. It also makes him very polite to others, especially women.
Though he prides himself on his code, and is quite kind and polite, he can become impatient with people quickly. Most the time he is in control, but every once in a while he will lose it, either due to great hunger, or irritation. Underneath the knowledge of 700 years he still has some reactions of that of a simple 14 year old.
He takes his vampire abilities for granted, and has a tendency to use brute force to fix most of his problems, that or simple fear. This is not to say he can't think his way out of a problem, for he is still quite intelligent, it's simply he falls back on them quickly due to being physically and mentally, at least partially, 14.
Laron prides knowledge and honor above all else. An intelligent person who sticks to their word he will respect above someone who is dimwitted, dumb, and a cheat. Vile people he would rather eat then deal with. Though he tends to put up with annoying women more so than men.
Still he will try and justify reasons why it would be okay to feed on people who only mildly annoy him, and can be quite cold and callous in some situations. He mostly takes no nonsense, and when wronged he is not above spending weeks tracking that person down to exact revenge. At the same time if he finds out that person did not do the wrong he assumed they did, his forgiveness is instant.
What your character can offer: Laron has the knowledge of 700 years of life. He also has his vampiric abilities, such as super strength, speed, quick healing (within hours wounds will be gone), and immortality. On top of those he is a practiced sorcerer, later graded at level 9, but with the potential to be 10 or possibly even 11. (Those are all high grading.) He is a skilled and certified Medicar which is more or less a healer in his world. He speaks several languages (Most from his world, and thus useless anywhere but), but also speaks Latin and French. He has knowledge of the sciences along with his magic, and is a quick learner.
What items will they be bringing with them? His cloths, a bag with navigation equipment, some melted glass, a short axe, and a device that houses his soul. (His body is dead and his soul came from another world.) He will also have a small item with the soul of a succubus attached to it.
Third-Person Sample: Things were moving fast, and to protect Terikel he had to think just as fast. He was taken into custody as the surviving elder of the Metrologan Order. Laron was imprisoned and awaited the execution Warsovran was planning. This did not worry him too much; after all he was already dead. If he played his cards right he just had to lay still until Mirial set, or he was thrown aside. After that he could get up and sneak away. Or he would wait until Mirial again was in the sky.
His plan however did not go through. Before the guards came back to take him to Warsovran the world went black. He had no memory, no faint images, no sense at all. When the world came back into view he was in an alien place. There was no hint how it could have happened, it was as if Mirial had set suddenly, and during that time his body was moved. He was in shock.
Quickly he got to his feet and looked around. It was a city of some sort, but not the type of city he was familiar with. Everything was made with stone and brick, yet there were other materials he was not familiar with. The buildings towered high as well, as if all of them were castles and mansions. The street was paved through rocky. This was not Helion, or Acrema, even Scalticar did not have such cities. Nowhere in the world looked like this, at least none of the places Laron had been. It was also highly unlikely he could have been transported to another continent, he would have noticed, it took days to travel after all. Plus, Warsovran would not have let him go.
This was almost like the time he had woken up in the oracle sphere. Had he been transported to another world again? But how? This wasn't his soul that had been taken, but his entire body. Was such a thing possible?
While he thought on this a wolf approached him from the darkness. He did not notice until it was within feet of him. It looked hungry and intent on eating him. It lunched for him, but Laton raised and arm ready to backhand it. It was not that large, and should be easy to kill. Yet, when he struck the creature it hardly flinched, and it managed to gash a wound in his arm, not deep, but still damage it where it should have not.
This was a worrying situation. His strength was not what it should have been. He raised a hand to his mouth, ready to whisper etheric castings; a flame would scare the animal away. Nothing came though, and he had fed not long ago and should have plenty to use.
"This is not good," he spoke to himself. Was he not dead? He tightened his hand around his axes handle and raised his free hand to his teeth. His fangs were there. He lowered it to his left heart, and then moved to the right. Both were still. What was wrong then? He was still dead.
The wolf lunged at him again, he swung the axe, the blade embedded itself into the wolf's neck killing it. Laron did not pay it much mind though and raised his head to the sky. Was this some sort of effect due to him being away from Miriral? The sky was devoid of the large moonworld, and instead had two smaller ones above. So he really was in another world. Yet, if he truly was, how was it he could be awake without Mirial? He had never fully come to understand the moons influence on him. Though, when he was on Earth he had never had Mirial, yet that had been very different, and with a very different body.
He turned away from the world and picked up his bag which had been on the ground next to him. A small strange box fell out of it. He bent over to pick it up, it was like nothing he had ever seen before, and made of some strange material he couldn't describe. It had a note on it.
'Use this' it read.
"I shall 'use this', but only once I have found a safe place," he thought to himself. Quickly and quietly he made his way through the darkened streets, until he found a space that was empty and seemed suitably safe, at least for now.
First-Person Sample: (Voice; Latin + Text)
I have found this device among my personal objects. It seems that I have arrived in this world with most of my possessions, yet I did not have these possessions when I was captured. It has a simple note written on it indicating that I should use it.
For what purpose is this device? No instructions or indication exists. The only means of learning more is through trial and error, simple experimentation. I have found a series of symbols that are letters. I find it interesting and odd that they be in Latin. The world that I was taken from had no such language, yet this device has equipped me with its alphabet to use. Perhaps this device is from my original world, and being the common language Latin was chosen.
I have not been able to speak a casting since I arrived, yet this device does not call for one. I feel this is a creation purely of the sciences, sciences so advance that I can barely begin to comprehend how one could do such a thing.
In my discovery so far, I have found it can record, broadcast and save written items. There seems to be a way to communicate with others through this device. Perhaps right now someone with a similar device is hearing and reading what I am describing right now?
There is much to learn of this place. Soon once I prepare I shall seek out any natives, if there truly are other people in this strange wasteland of stone and metal.
Additional Information: Laron's main weakness is that he goes dead when Mirial the great and largest moonworld sets. For 12 hours he "sleeps" and will rise when Mirial rises again. While in Discedo his cycle will be with the blue planet that becomes full every 50 days. I'm going to assume that it is set for 12 hours a day, and it's orbit allows it to be up at various times of day, even if you can't see it beyond dusk and dawn.
Laron is a romantic in his views. He thinks towards an ideology before practicality. Not that he can't be practical, he can be very practical, and usually is overly logical to a chilling extent. Yet his views on valour and chivalry guide him, and he has many romantic inclinations he would like to live.
For example, once when speaking about women and stated he would like to serve a lady as her champion. He was teased that he could only think so purely because he was dead a virgin and 14 for 700 years. Later we find out that, well, yes he's not exactly as pure as he had viewed, but still hold great respect for many and can be virtuous.
The world of the Moonworlds Saga books is set in a pseudo 1700s like world with heavy European, some Asian, and middle eastern influences.
